Best possible bandaids for PSK?

Similar to a thread I posted a while back requesting discussion about the absolute best duct tape, what bandaids do you guys stock in your PSKs? It seems to me that they're another item which should be cost-no-object, as long as you don't consider Hem-con a bandaid, LOL. So who likes what bandaids/brands for outdoor use? 3M nexcare products? J&J Band-Aid™ Toughstrips?
This is definitely an item where you want the most performance per. A 25¢ top-of-the-heap like the Toughstrip isn't going to take up [much] more room than a 5¢ Walmart brand fabric bandaid, but it's sure going to last a lot longer in an outdoor environment!
So what's the best there is? I'm not talking the Dodge Viper of bandaids, I want to hear about the Enzo of the bandaid world! :)

I'll be honest: I just have basic Band-aid brand fabrics in my kits, but thought I should have better so I'm asking you guys.

For a general bandaid, Biersdorf Coverlets, IMHO.

Either the 3/4" x 3" or the 1" x 3".

For wound management, Steri-Strips.

I use band-aid brand and have always been happy with it's performance and durablility. I also carry gauze and tape so I'm ready for it if the band-aid fails or is too small for what I need it to cover.

I prefer the cloth ones so much more to the others. They seem to stay put better, especially since I always get cut at a bend.

Curad brand band-aids..they will stay on even if soaked in engine oil provided that they go completly around the finger and overlap themselves. for bigger stuff I use cloth medical tape because it "breathes" and individual wrapped/packaged feminine panty liners.(I get stared at but I dont care!!!lol!!!). For repairs to shelter or shoes,Duct tape brand duct tape, its much more durable than the cheapie brand...you can get it in little "Flat-paks" in assorted colors(even camo) in the sporting good section of most discount chains. best to all, Ankrst

I like the elsto-plast ones the best. I just bought a bunch of nexcare (3M) and those new fangled exponsive ones that are supposed to be waterproof and the like. The waterproof ones aren't water-proof if you are already wet (none of them are) but that is a problem because when self-administering first aid you are trying to clean yourself up with disinfectant, staunch the blood and slap on a band-aide. Then they end up costing like $3 a band-aid.

Again I like the elstoplast ones the best. The stretch well, have good adhesive. The other thing that I like about them above and beyond the 3M versions, is that the gauze pad of the elstoplast extends the full width of the adhesive band. In otherwords, no sticky corners surrounding the guaze to stick into blood clots or damaged skin.

The only Band Aid type thing I've bothered with in years are the ones with silver in, and that's for a very specific purpose. They are top bananas for drawing out cosmetic piercings that wont suppurate cooperatively. Other than that Band-Aids waste my time.

I use Transpore for everything that isn't a burn. I find I can close wounds up much more effectively with Medi-Swabs and butterflies cut from Transpore than I can using Steri-Strips, from the smallest niggle to the proper gash. If that isn't enough I just augment it with a bit of gauze and some fabric tape. If I've got to stick an affected hand in something real skanky I'll abduct tape over it, or abduct tape round the root of a finger stall, and do the dressing again after. I much prefer simple solid solutions on a roll and a few chemicals to cover as wider spectrum as possible rather than little sachets of half-effectives.

4" X 4" and tape, and make your own. Carry less, get more.

That's what I do for larger kits, and in my own first aid kits. I was thinking more for the proverbial "Altoids Tin" ;) LOL, the cargo pocket I EDC my first aid stuff in already has a Petzl E+Lite and a good hank of paracord in it. If it gets any wider, I won't be able to sit in anything with armrests!:p

Being Diabetic, I unfortunately go though a lot of Band-Aids, for those little nicks and cuts that sometimes will not heal fast enough.

Band-Aid and Curad brands with the "fabric" backing, are the ones I buy most. They go on and STAY on, sometimes for days even when I forget I have one on and shower, I still have to peal them off.

If the cuts small enough to fix with a bandaid then it ain't really worth worrying about and if it's too big for a bandaid then you are most likely in the sh*t anyway !!!!

Just throw some Cayenne pepper on the wound and cover with a regular band aid or duct tape !!!!

LOL, back to CGN for you! :D
Thanks to the rest of the guys though. I'll pick up some of each to try out. I just use the cheapie fabrics at work since they get edge-rolled so much.

For small cuts use super glue- after you clean out the cut.

For big cuts get some 4x4's and tape. If the cut is a gusher but still small, just fold the pad. Carry some iodine to flush out the wound. You can get prep pads soaked in the stuff. Also, look for alcohol prep pads. They work great as fire starters as well. Little buggers take a spark and will burn for 3 minutes straight.

Don't forget the kids - I recently added a few of the cartoon character band-aids to my full size kit thats in my pack. My daughter is almost 3 and my son is 1.5 and they are starting to spend some time out with me. God forbid they get a "boo boo" and I don't have a superman band-aid to put on it.

Haha, good call. My daughter turns 2 in a couple months. She usually travels in the backpack for now, since I need the exercise and I like to cover some ground.

I like Adrenjunky's thinking..... 4x4 and some tape.... you can get the Elastoplast tape by the roll.... that stuff is second only to ductape and twist-off bottle caps, as far as great inventions are concerned.

the other FAK staple is Steri-strips.(sp?)

Maybe off topic a little bit but..make your first aid kit accessible. I had a nasty looking gash about 2 inches long in my leg..pouring blood.. and I'm trying to hold direct pressure and get to my first aid kit and then trying to get to the contents with slick hands all while cussing in long loud strings of blasphemy!!! make it safe, dry, waterproof, ect but make it so you can get to it too!!! file it under "Lessons Learned". Best to all. Ankrst

Band-Aid Fabric Tough-Strips have worked the best IMHO. They don't peel off like other bandages... they really stick!
