I have a victorinox craftsman right now, but i find its a little heavy and too thick to edc. There is some things i want in it.

-Has to be Victorinox
-has to be less than 3 layers thick
-has to have a phillips head screwdriver

Thanks!:p

The small flat screwdriver on the Victorinox can opener is rounded and can turn many medium sized Phillips screws. If that meets your needs the Pioneer and Cadet are great choices. If you want a true Phillips driver, I would check out the 2 layer Tinker or Small Tinker. I personally prefer the Small Tinker over the regular size. It is just a bit more compact than the standard size (84mm vs 91mm), but it is still large enough to be useful. You get 2 knife blades, 3 screwdrivers, a cap lifter, awl, can opener, tweezers, and toothpick in a very compact, pocketable package.

I like my SAKs on the smaller side and rotate between the Pioneer, Cadet, and Small Tinker.

My EDC is the Adventurer (two layer). I have heard that Victorinox may be discontinuing it. I keep a couple spares when if I loose the one I am carrying or damage it much. The Pioneer is a good one too.

I just have to ask the question, why does it have to be Victorinox? What is wrong with Wenger products? I would take a Wenger Standard Issue over a Vic Pioneer anytime.

Oh, BTW, the Cadet is a great knife for EDC.

I seen somewhere that the file tip on a Cadet will work well on philip heads! Haven't tried it but that what I had read somewhere! :)

I just like Victorinox over wenger, I'm not saying Wenger is bad, i just don't really like the looks of them.

Hey K1W1, just a heads up, you can't deal spot on BladeForums.com, unless that company pays to advertize here. You'll receive an infraction against you by a moderator.

The weight and bulk are why I carry a Leatherman Micra paired with a single blade knife.

If I had to carry a Victorinox, I would probably pick the Super Tinker for the more robust scissors and pen blade.

Since when is saying where and for how much you got a knife for "deal spotting"? If it was 90% of BF members would be banned. Besides, he wasn't advertising, nor did he say which store or seller he got it from on ebay. To my knowledge, though it is rather limited, he was just suggesting a knife and saying where ge got it, no rule breaking there imo.

Best SAK for edc would be 2 SAKs!

Seriously I carry a Manager around my neck and a Pioneer in my pocket.
Between those two, I've got more or less everything edc covered. Having two also means the weight and bulk is spread out, therefore a lighter carry.

Manager
- Pen
- Small blade
- Scissors
- Flat head screwdriver with Nail File
- Small Philips screwdriver (great for smaller screws) with a bottle opener
- Tweezers

Pioneer
- Main blade
- Can opener with flat head(great for larger philips screws the manager can't handle)
- Bottle opener with large flat head (awesome for light prying)
- Awl, which is the best awl I've ever used (not to mention it can be used as a dirty scraping blade things such as tape or poking in things)

+1 on this combo! I have a Manager on my small key chain (just a house key) and with that I was carrying a Salt 1 but I have been looking into either a Cadet or Pioneer instead of the Salt 1 for my combo. It is great to see someone else has the same idea! :)

If I'm wrong then I'm sorry, but I got two infractions recently for something similar, I just don't want him to get one as well. EBay does not pay BladeForums.com to advertize here so you can't mention them as a source to buy from. Again, if I'm incorrect in this, I am sorry, maybe a moderator can clarify if one of them is reading this.

Dear Dry-cell,

You have received a warning at BladeForums.com.

Reason:

Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting

You are not allowed to direct sales to a source which is not a paid Bladeforums dealer.

This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care. If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.

This infraction can be issued as a warning and is worth 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months.

Here's a list of Paid Dealer Members on BladeForums.com.

Haha, awesome!

I used to carry a Caly 3.5 instead of the Pioneer. But I found that as a pocket knife to carry in all kinds of situation including living in Australia, the Pioneer trumps the Caly in many ways.

The Tinker is my favorite carry for in the city. I prefer the Farmer on the weekends, but during the week a Tinker has everything I need. I prefer the dedicated philips driver (though I would prefer one inline with the blade and not on the back) and I really like having the small blade. I find it handy for opening letter and plastic clamshell packaging and keeping my large blade sharp for if its really needed.

I have been carrying a Tinker since I was a cub scout.
