Best self Defense Folder from Spyderco?

First of all, I don't think a knife is the best self-defense weapon of choice. But if it is going to be a knife...

I have to disagree with some folks here. When it comes to using a knife for self defense, the big boys rule!
I would'nt choose any knife with a 3" or less blade.
When facing even one enraged attacker you're gonna want a real big knife.

Let's say you hear a noise in the middle of the night in your home, and the only weapons you have are a Delica or a 12" machete. Which one would you choose?

Of course we can't always carry around 12" machetes or firearms, but most of us can carry a 4"-5" folder without much trouble.

Go for the Police, Military, or the Starmate, or even the Endura II (all stainless).

Hello from Israel...
self defense is real deal here...

Why don't we all mix apples and oranges? So typical of cyber space..
Selfdefense has a big parameter:
Home? street? Closed environment...?
Yet we're going to pick one tool to do it all?
right..sure.
And we are going to discuss the best self defense edged tool?
In who's opinion?
A self defense experts?
A DTI's?
A SDR Instructor's?
the average person?

In home? big blade? try it in the dark, try it with all your stuff in the way..Bigger better? sure..up to a point..
Can I pick n choose circumstances or illusrations to show why bigger is better or smallest is bestest? sure..no problem...
Anything over a certain size has a life of its own.
thats why wannabe sword people died at the hands of real users..
By the way..How did one access this big blade..? run out to the garage?

Shoot them? I agree..Shoot them..I hope you trained to use that tool in lowlight, under duress and you can hit a moving target...
But I agree go ahead shoot them..
Shooting is very neat...
Of course range time is paramount...
Owning a gun dioesn't translate into usage..
( hmmm neither does owning a knife!)

Self-defense? in who's mind? in what circumstances? in what environment?.....

The best tool is what's in your hand..
period..

Make sure it fits your hand..
make sure you cannot slide up onto the blade..
make sure it's got good edge geometry..( as well as no tiny tips that break..no thin blades...)
get rid of your predetermined self defense script and usage..
try cutting with your tool..cut meat in clothing..meat with bones...
try accessing your tool under duress..
BIG THING HERE..
more important than cutting, shape and your blade length stuff..
if you can't accesss under duress, if you can't get it open..
all other factors are moot...
better find out that tip up tip down crap right away..
tip up tip down is a highly personal feeling...
better find accessing right away..
it's a trained skill..a motor response...better keep it simple
SHO is a fine motor skill...

It's life or death here..daily..
reality wins out..

All Spyderco products are user tools..all are sharp//all are well made....
most are not SDR, MBC or self-defense tools per se...
ANY tool can theoretically be used to defend one'sself..

before your life is on the line..find yours..
its a very personal thing..

be safe
Bram
