This is not an ATAX answer, but I got a few really good shots of stuff I'm taking to the show this weekend and figured I'd toss the trail knife idea into the mix.
There's a few bushbeaters floating around here, the trail knife is generally shorter, with a straight spined profile instead of a spearpoint. It's still a thick bladed beefy chopping knife, though I try and get the grind thin enough to really work the slicing- And it's also designed to handle the other, "unmentionable" knife task.
anyway, here's a trail knife with a blade length up around 8 inches. fore and aft lanyard holes, the integrated guard with the handle works out, and the handle is long. this helps with balance, allows for choking back on the chopping swings. Just don't (thegame) repeatedly (thegame) try to chop trees down with the handles.
