While I sit here a work with little to do at the moment, I have been reflecting on the best Busse to take to the woods. It would need to be light to med chopper with the ability to work in a camp kitchen. My pick for the ultimate camp knife goes to the SH-E. Slightly larger than the SFNO, but smaller than the FSH, it hits that happy medium. What do you guys think?

Other picks that come to mind are the HR, EU-17(reg), SFNO, and the MR

I feel like the FSH is just about ideal.

Though I've many a great camping trip with no more than my NOe on my side....

This year I am tempted to take the LEFBM...and a Ruck....heavy heart....You know...just the basics...

Ohh most definitely the FBMLE!!
Right on HEAVY! :D

The GW can go in your pocket... and when it comes out, the BATACLE in your boot. :D

I like a 7 inch camp blade.. give or take an inch. (more chopping go 8, more food prep go 6) :)

For me, my SRKWs Camp Tramp is a great size. Accompanied by a GW. A BATACLE will be a great addition as well. Fehrman First Strike comes to mind also...

Lately been taking my BM-E and a GW... They're awesome together.

If I had to go w/one blade, it may very well be the SH-E. If a guy didn't expect to do much chopping, the HR / MR would be pretty close to perfect for a one blade set-up IMHO.

THE One - 'The Precious'... :D

Well, that's not even fair... The rest of us have to think in terms of what's available and affordable :p

That really IS one sweet knife

If I can only take one knife into the woods it's going to be my FBM. I can do food prep with that.. the thing will lop a fishes head off in a second. But more often than not... if I'm going into the woods for camping and such I'll have several blades with me... FBM, AS, Skirmish, machete, and my MMHW Axe. There is nothing the woods have that these blades can't handle.

Gotta go with my Hell Razor with mag handles. Heavy enough to chop with and really versatile blade shape / grip options.

For me, it has become this ZTSH Variant. It blends just the right mixture of size, weight, and comfort.

It's the NO-E for me. Though I am usually selecting my knife based on both camp use as well as usefulness in an urban setting. Thick enough to pry, light enough to be a nice fighter, and compact. Just my 2 cents!

i think i like the FSH for camping, whats the size difference between it and the camp tramp though?
