Even though I'm new to the spyder world ( just got my first spyder today, para 2) but is the para 2 the best slicer out. This is coming from a zt guy.

I do not like the blade design on ZT knives, personally. The Spydercos are better cutting tools, especially the flat ground blades. Also, the Spydercos usually have a better point for sticking things.

I dig the designs, I just think the grinds are too thick near the edge to be better slicers than most thinly ground Spydercos.

i will hazard a blanket answer here. all spyderco knives are hair-whittling sharp out of the box but they will not be as sharp as you would want them because they come with somewhat thick blades (up to the edge) and the factory sharpening bevel is around 15 degrees per. if you want your para 2 to out-slice every knife out there, you need to re-profile the edge. being a newbie to freehanding, i tried to bring my zdp endura down to 10 degrees per side. did a bad job on one side but it now slices and push cuts a lot better.

It's gotta be the Stretch zdp for me. Just look at how thin the grind profile is. I keep saying the Stretch is my favorite, and how it slices like a laser is one of the reasons why. Get a hold of one and let me know what you guys think...

ZDP 189 Stretch is the best slicer of the Spydercos I have used

Both the VG-10 and ZDP-189 versions of the Stretch are excellent slicers but among regular production Spydercos, my "top 5" slicers (in no particular order) would be the Caly 3, Caly 3.5, Centofante Memory, Chaparral, and FRN Calypso Jr, and my absolute best slicer is a Kiwi reground by Tom Krein to a near-zero edge FFG.

I don't own that many spydies but my GB is a slicing machine but my Para2's aren't that far behind especially my cpm s90v cf sprint Para2- it has the thinnest and nicest edge out of all my spydies:thumbup:

Agreed +1

Sage series. I like the Sage 2 because it slices well and is easy to clean (including takedown and reassembly). I was on the fence about the Techno but it's just too thick for me.

I gotta represent the fixed blades. The Mules are pretty thin and make good slicers.
