Best slicer

Mule variations, Caly ZDP & Super Blue, Stretch ZDP and Delica/Endura FFG ZDP all come to mind as very nice slicers.

Anything with FFG. Military and Caly, especially the Calypso which is like a pocket light saber :)

what I think is awesome about this thread is the variety of answers. It shows that Spyderco makes great slicers in all shapes and sizes.

Caly 3.5. The best way to determine slicing ability outside of cutting cardboard, is to measure the the thickness behind the edge and the blade stock.

I haven't come across a spyderco that didn't slice like a demon but some of my favorite slicers are zdp stretch, ffg delica, ffg endura, millie, p2. Pretty much any spyderco will cut circles around a ZT in my experience. I'm not saying that ZT doesn't rock, in fact I'm carrying an 0560 today, but if you want a true slicing machine get a ffg spyderco.

Stretch has had a lot of love for good reason, also mentioned once I think the Chokwe is a good one.

Q: What makes a good slicer?

A: Thin behind the edge, and a thin blade grind and blade stock.

So, while many of the knives in here are definitely not poor slicers, they also don't measure up to some of the other knives mentioned. A Military or Para 2 will slice very nicely for a 4mm blade, but I think of all the knives in this thread that have been mentioned (unless i missed one) the Chaparral I believe has the thinnest blade and is likely thinnest behind the edge. Prior to that knife I believe the last was the Caly 3. I'm pretty sure Deacon has measured and done some testing on this subject, as he's all about slicers.
