Best slicers

My personal fav, hands down. Beats all my higher end stuff as well as my Opinels(!)
This one, however, does come very very close.
The yellow fellow.

My spyderco persian with high hollow grins is amazing slicer!I find it that high hollow grind slices better and is thinner behind the edge than other grinds! It cuts better than my para2!

Agreed. I owned maybe 10 different Spydercos before I gave up thick-bladed modern one-handers cold turkey. And NONE of them could outslice an Opinel (or Case trapper, or SAK or ...).

Yup. It doesn't matter how polished the edge is....eventually geometry wins.

Well....yes and no. It depends also on substrate. If its not all that thick and or is pretty soft back-blade geometry matters less than bevel polish. This has been demonstrated.

The winning combination for push cutting is geometry AND polish.

Out of my knives, I will say (in no particular order):

CRK Umnumzaan
Spyderco Military, PM2, Delica 4 ffg, old-style Calypso
Benchmade 805 Axis TSEK, 550 Griptilian
Victorinox SAKs

Excluding my traditionals in which by their nature excel at slicing,I would pick my Delica 4 ZDP189,Military CPM440V,Dozier Buckhunter D2,and my Endura 4 VG10.Those are all excellent slicers. That Stretch cutting video was quite impressive.

Best slicer fixed blade for general chores:

Busse Basic 4.

I cant really comment on what is the absolute best. The geometry greatly affects the cutting ability depending on the material I cut. Hollow grind works best for me on pipes while FFG binds a bit. FFG works great for food preperation while hollow grind can crack the fruit or hard vegetables. Then you get high hollow grinds that are almost best of both for me. While hunting I love this custom grind:

Thicker at the hilt for when cutting around bone and thinner towards the tip for more precise work.

Wait....my best all purpose folder cutter is the Gareth Bull small Warlock. The sucker is thin at the edge:

My vote goes for the FFG Endura in ZDP189. It's the best one I have, but I don't have a Stretch yet.

My superblue caly3.5, M390 Military, Chokwe, Para 2 and BG-42 Sebenza etc. are all great slicers, but the Gareth Bull Warlock is on another level. Definitely the best slicer I've ever come accross.

Defiantly my case trapper in cv really long almost 3.4 inch blade that that has a nice thin hollow grind. you can set it on an orange with no weight and use a nice sawing motion and it will cut right through it. The spyderco delica ffg is also a very good slicer.
