Best smaller sized fixed blade for horizontal belt carry (Izula)...??

Ya know I'm becoming more and more intrigued with the thought of carrying a smaller fixed blade on my belt (horizontal) for working purposes more and more. I use my clipped folder a lot as a carpenter, etc and it's getting pretty old having to clip on, clip off clip, clip on, etc etc etc.....

I want something that won't become a hindrance as well though. I want something that is gonna feel like nothing is there and not get in my way, etc. Don't want it to feel bulky and weigh me down.

With that said is the Izula the best option...??

I also need a slim sleek sheath with clip preferred...?? Don't really wanna make one but I can if I need to. Do they not make a universal clip that will mount to the existing sheath and still have a slim profile.

thx guys.

Izula is a good option as is Becker BK11 or BK14. It's the work of a moment to rig up paracord loops to make horizontal carry cheap and effective.

Super easy, just use one piece and make an X behind the belt preferably with a belt loop in the middle, tie off, cut, and burn tips. No wrong way to do it if something else works for you. Even old leather sheaths can be tied any way you want to a belt, MOLLE gear, etc. pretty easily.

OH I see what yall are getting at....I was under the impression the entire sheath was constructed out of paracord...lol

simple enough.

I'd like to see a paracord sheath too. It would probably work for a little while. :p

For the life of me I couldn't figure out how I would rig up a paracord sheath that wouldn't get cut up and would be easily removable....LOL

Man I feel silly now...lol...:o

Best suggestion I've seen is to cut out a piece of bicycle inner tube, wrap it around the sheath, and slide your belt thru it.
Ultimate simplicity, cost, and slimness.

The nimcub 2 benchmade comes with a nifty sheath with lots of attachments.
Blade is 154cm. Knife can be had for $ 80 shipped with sheath.

Take a look at a CRKT Stubby Razel.
Stout little working knife. The sheath has a clip, though it is meant for vertical pocket carry.

I'm assuming that is the clip plate that attaches to the sheath..?? looks to me it only works vertical...??

I rigged the clip plate on mine to work horizontally. All you have to do is place it next to the sheath and line up the holes, you will only be able to use two screws but it works fine. A better alternative i found was to cut out some small strips of leather and use the chicago screws from the kit to affix them to the sheath. These went on my belt at 11 o'clock and the handle went through a beltloop to keep it from printing through my shirt.

I can;t visualize this set up. Got any pics :)

Not sure if a fixed blade would be an improvement. At least with a folder I can operate it completely with one hand, blindfolded. But if you put a fixed blade into its sheath without looking at it or even using both hands(one to hold the sheath steady, one to hold the knife), you might end up sticking the knife into yourself. Also, the small size of the Izula makes me wonder if it's enough for the work you do. I mostly just use mine to cut small pieces of fruit out for samples. It's not nearly long enough for trimming or heavy cutting.
