Best Spyderco from a collectors point of view and also a heavy users point of view. 2 knives (I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT!)

If I was going to get a 4" Spyderco today, it would be a Military 2 in Crucarda. My favorite steel and my favorite handle material.

The only reason I don't have one? The Crucarda Para 3 does pretty much 95% of what I need a folding knife to do. It's been very hard to carry anything else since I bought it.

The Military 2 is the next folder I will probably buy, but it will be because I had a moment of weakness and talked myself into it. I've really taken a shine to the Para 3.

Nirvana or Paysan for collecting. Not easy to come by, but not impossible. The Valotton Sub-hilt and either of the Subverts are also collectible.

Hard use: Amalgam, Amalgam*, Military 1 or 2, Manix 2 and the XL are good starts.

*the Amalgam is much overlooked so I mentioned it twice. 😉
Right on the money! Thank you!

Here a pic of the D/A Vallotton I mentioned:

Make me smile every time I use it. But like you say - it’s personal.
I definitely dig it. Added it to my list. Thank you!

Stretch 2 XL in Cruwear would by my choice for your large "hard use" knife of the two. I carry this and/or a Manix 2 in Cruwear when I want a larger Spyderco.

Only one I got. Endura 4 in damascus. Knife Center still has them. Feels as good as any Seki City knife I've owned. Apparently, mine's a collector, since despite having carried it often it seldom gets used.

I've had numerous PM2's in various carts for years, but they never go on sale for me to afford. I'm sure they're worth it, just haven't pulled the trigger. The Smock also taunts me.

For a user, the easy way is either a cruwear Military or Manix 2XL or Stretch 2XL. Or, buy all 3 and see what you like, they all have different locks. Only you can decide what you prefer after using them. I prefer the Manix 2 XL because I can't get past the Military's handle shape. It looks too small at the pivot. I'm sure it functions great though. The Stretch G10 version is very high quality.

Can't help with collecting.

For me the Manix 2 XL was my Spyderco Epiphany knife. I was never crazy about their designs until I got the Manix 2.
The full, flat ground leaf shaped blade is perfect for just about anything.
Not too thick, easy to carry, but a good size.

Another one I picked up recently was the Swayback. I got it on clearance, and I believe you can still find them for $200.

It's another great design and I carry it more than my Sebenza, the Wharncliffe blade is great for breaking down boxes.
And the stonewashed titanium frame hides scratches.

Can't really say if either would be collectible, but the Swayback is discontinued.
