Best spyderco slicer

Spyderco Endura FFG zdp for me... Folding kitchen slicer ;)

Military in BG42, S90, M390, Caly 3.5 in Super Blue and the Nilakka. I would also give the nod to the Stretch in Super Blue. I was somewhat hesitant in picking up the Nilakka because of the problems when they first came out, but the shop seems to have taken care of that - it hands down gets sharper than any other Spyderco I own. I would not be considered an expert in the sharpening arena - I usually don't use much else besides my sharpmaker down to the ultra fine rods and a strop, but I have been more than satisfied with the results I get on these knives. I am a bit careful with the Super Blues and the Nilakka - I don't do a lot of heavy duty cutting with either the SB or the Nilakka if I want to retain a really sharp edge - as noted the SB will lose its edge fairly quickly as will the Nilakka. As far as the best slicer, I would be looking at the Military - big swept FFG blade - it is really made to cut. Once you get the S90 and the M390 sharp, it stays that way a long time. BG42 gets there a lot quicker, but obviously doesn't hold it quite as long. I do have to say that the Nilakka is unlike any other Spyderco I own - it is very unique in the hand. As noted, lots of other Spydercos out there that cut extremely well - I pretty much don't look at any other brands.

Stretch, Caly3.5, Cent3, Delica... Spyderco has many more great slicers but these are my top picks. Do not overlook the Delica in slicing ability ;)

it boils down to which has the thinnest edge. endura and pm2 may be ffg but they're kinda thick at the edge. my bets are the ffg delica and the caly.

I can make my vg10 delicas split atoms
I have had the same experience with My Spyderco Bill Moran, which BTW is the best slicing knife i have ever used bar none. Its the kind of sharp that just makes you want to carve up anything you can get your hands on. I have been looking for a good VG-10 folder for a very long time, the only problem is that i'm not a fan of FRN so a lot of Spyde's are out. I have been considering buying a g10 Spyderco Dragonfly for some time now (i know it is a thick blade so not a born slicer). Any suggestions on a good folding VG-10 slicer? preferably under $150?

3.5 caly. g10 scales and vg10. blade is even thinner at the edge than the delica. i haven't sharpened it since i got it last year. my best slicer. cost less than $150

Gayle Bradley is my best slicer. I also have a Chappell , and a zdp stretch but the Bradley is better

First post an all. I would say my Lum Chinese (large) plain edge folder. Liked mine so much I bought three more when the sprint run was done.

I did a test a while ago pitting the large Chinese against a folding Santoku designed for kitchen work and the Lum was the better performer. With the deep carry clip it carries well too.

The Catcherman is the best slicer. I believe it has the thinnest edge and is billed as a filet knife. It is razor sharp when a proper edge is on it. I can speak from experience that it is the sharpest knife out of dozens of Spydercos that I owned.

Out of my three spydercos, my Gayle Bradley. Not sure if the hollow grind means less behind the edge than the average Spyderco ffg blades, but the knife amazes me.

Used the stretch a bit yesterday to cup up some fruit. Went through it like a light saber, can't wait to start using it daily.

Thank you everyone for your input, now I have a lot of spydies I need to try eventually ;)

I say get the stretch, thin it down to where you sharpen it almost flat on the stones, the super blue should be able to hold that edge better than many.

There are 2 that I would heartily recommend as "slicers">> one being an older model but they did do a Sprint run of them 2 years ago and I'm speaking of the C-54 big Calypso model. It is a full flat grind and the blade is so streamlined that you will find slicing to be almost effortless.

Another Spyderco folder I like for slicing is also an older model that they did a Sprint of a couple of years ago as well and that model is the C-60 Ayoob with the G-10 handle. With a convex belly it cuts anything it comes into immediate contact with.

I also have an older Spyderco fixed blade that I just absolute love to use in the kitchen>> that is the original Temperance 1 model which is a full flat grind and it has a handle that grips almost perfectly. I truly wish that they would bring that back in the H-1 Salt Series. Any of those 3 I personally recommend for slicing with experience to back it up.
