Very cool responses. I think every gets oakleys at one time or another. I have.
I studied this considerably because I needed to get quality sunglasses 12 years ago after an eye operation. Here is what I found:
Glass is a natural UV filter, however, blocking UVa is most important. I actually had the ability to test out several quality sunglasses I own by an optics lab and the sunglasses tha impressed them the most were
Revo
Costa Del Mar
Maui Jim
when it comes to lens performnce they are the top. The glass lenses on these brands are ground so perfect that there is no distortion.
Revo's have one advantage over the other brands. Certain lenses of theirs block out 100% Infrared as well. IR has been implicated in eye disconfort only not in eye damage so the need to block IR has always been questioned. However, the Bolle B100 lens, which is one of the best lenses for cataract and ther eye problem people is also 100 percent IR/UV blocker. However, it badly distorts colors.
Serengeti is another one which is at the top and usually overlooked.
What models within the brands do you guys like the most?
I'll check my models as well.
I am surprised no one mentioned RAYBAN. I had Baloramas and Predators with the G15 lenses that I loved.
