Marcinek has a very valid point, Dan.."Rolling eyes" as a means of dismissing his question actually confirms his point - IT IS MARKETING.
I have no use for a "Combat" knife, nor a "Survival" knife and certainly not a "Combat/Survival knife". That is a marketing term aimed at the 13 - 24 year old age group ("airsofter/paintballer") that will never see combat, nor a survival situation.
A hunter needs a reliable knife to perform the tasks required to dress and pack out his kill. A Soldier needs a reliable knife to perform the tasks required of his job: simple tasks such as opening an MRE...moderate tasks such as cutting 550 cord, 1/4" cotton webbing and waffle board to prepare and secure a resupply drop....to life-threatening tasks such as severing a static line to release a towed paratrooper.
"Combat/Survival knives" are exactly what they are intended to be - a marketing tool used to increase revenue.
The question was posed by someone using the name "JackalopeSTICKER"....going back to what I mentioned earlier about the "13-24 year old age group"...and spells it "Survivel"...
I would probably order that as well if if had a full tang
Sounds like I described a survival knife...lol...... Bet you could stab someone with it to.. Like I said once I get it I will post a few shots and impressions.
Actually, you have described what is called a "camp knife." "Survival knife" = no meaning. "Camp knife" = specific meaning. That's all we were asking. Noone was arguing or trying to "ruin" your thread. Just trying to figure out what you meant by "combat/survival." You meant "outdoor recreation." Cool! Now we can get somewhere!
Take a look at the Condor Hudson Bay Knife. Nothing about "survival" or "combat" in its name, no skulls or writing on its blade, and, yet, it is built exactly for what you are talking about. (Except for the hammering and smashing...that's what rocks are for. Saves your knife. Boom. "Survival" skill right there.)
In the end the words all become meaningless.
Well, guess the post limiting gods don't feel I'm worthy of posting any pictures yet. Stupid.
Anyway. I have a Chris Reeve's Pacific that is proving to be worthy.
Not my personal knife, but follow link to see it.

No, I described just exactly a survival knife. it has meaning. Millions would agree, Can it be called something else? You can call it what ever you want. Most knew exactly what is meant since it has been, is , and will be Marketed just that way forever..
If not the best, then most certainly up there with the very best.best knife ever...

Most knew exactly what is meant since it has been, is , and will be Marketed just that way forever.. You can deny the truth, You can get offended, you can police everyone you want but when it comes down to it, most knew exactly what was meant. There is a reason for it. Do you have to like what it is called.. Nope. But to have a few guys write 2 or 3 paragraph lectures trying to explain how that is not what it is just further proves it is just that.. Kinda Sad... lol
here's their badge, lets see if I win.. Oh and shoot I will have to return that hogue, it has no skulls or tacticool etching on it
