I am looking into getting a Tactical Folder knife. Well be used for almost everything throughout the day, also would be used for carry for self defense (if needed). I have a budget of $200 max.

So far ive looked into the Spyderco Military, Emerseon CQC-7, and the SOG Vulcan. Im having a tough choice deciding between those, but any other suggestions would be greatful.

look at a used zero tolerance. they are great knives with a life time warranty. the no questions asked kind i believe. a bit big but i don't even notice i am carrying mine anymore

you can find used ones for 150-190 on the net if you look around

My choice is a Spyderco Military.:thumbup:

I carry one every day, and I usually wear a suit to work.

if you're right handed and don't mind tip-down carry, then I'd say the Spyderco Military is a great choice. I'd say forget the SOG Vulcan and check out Zero Tolerance, the Benchmade 710, 950, and the new Lum-designed knife. Also, Benchmade just did a collaboration with Shane Sibert, I think the model is the 755. I'd check that out too. It's a bit expensive, I'm not sure if it's actually in your price range.

check out sog spec elite in 4 in. edc for almost 3 months, vg10 steel & can be opened left handed as easily as right handed.

+1 on the zero tolerance series of knives- I carry a Zt301 daily and have not noticed it since after the first week of carry. I never leave home without it and prefer it to my other folders

I have a ZT 0200 and it's pretty nice. I would also recommend the BM 710... it's a classic and a solid knife. I think it would serve you well for what you said your uses will be.

I'd get the Military. It seems like it would be plenty of knife for self defense purposes, and IMO its the best of the bunch in a utility role.

Another vote for the ZT line.

Check out the 0300 series and the 0500 - MUDD.

I don't think the MUDD is great for self defense as it draws very slow out of the pocket - but its a beast!

You should be able to find either one for under $200.

No such beast exist. What does exist is everybodies favorite tactical style folder. My number one favorite in this genre is the ZT0500 MUDD. The ZT0200 is a close second. Another one I like, and just got a couple weeks back, is the new Boker Applegate Folding Dagger.

cutter17 was right,no such beast! :) you might checkout a COMBATIVE EDGE M1 folder! they are in your budget area. :)

I'd get a Spyderco Military. It's a big knife, but its thin and doesn't weigh much, so it carries really well.

Spyderco Manix2 is an excellent knife. Solid and stout without being too much to carry comfortably.

ZT 301.

It is a TANK, great knife. One that I would rely on in a tight situation. Have not regretted the purchase once. The Mili is a good knife too, but it is too big. It is just soooooo long and I would not trust the thinner blade as much in a lateral force situation.
