Best Tatical Folders??

if by tatical, you mean tactical :D then definitions are wide ranging.
typically striders, lightfoots, hinderers and the like come up.

That is a tough call really.

Some I suspect are deserving of being in the rankings but I have not had to the chance to handle them as of yet like the Kershaw Zero Tolerance knives for example.

Of the ones I have handled I'd rate the Extreme Ratio Fulcrum up there as a really tough as nails sharpened pry bar of a folder. Its probably the strongest lock ever made on this one.

The HK34/14200 is also a very underated tough tactical folder with a very strong lock and great blade.

And third I'd probably have to rank the Emerson CQC8 as my next choice. The Waved one of course.

Microtech Socom Elite Auto or almost all of the Emersons(waved) but their are many more that I also like.

Love all those mentioned so far. Would also like to add Master of Defense 875 series. Had one. Very strong lock with an additional "slider" to prevent unlocking. They also make the same knives in auto.

I'm also partial to the Benchmade Presidio. I have the auto model (Pardue 5000) and it feels like a tank. Also has a "slider" to prevent unlocking. The Axis lock is the "firing" mechanism.

For a large folder, I'll also throw in the Benchmade Ruckus. Love mine. Tough as nails knife in S30V.

Large Benchmade Axis-lock models, like the 805, 806, and 710.

For very light-weight folders...the older Spyderco Endura III (and the Pacific Salt), and the large Cold Steel Voyagers.

I forgot to mention the benchmade axis autos they are great. I normally carry a auto presidio or a microtech auto mini socom elite.

I suppose it depends on your definition of tactical, but a couple of good fighters in my opinion, are the Camillus Cuda Maxx 5.5 and the Spyderco Civilian.

Bang per buck? Many people rate the Spyderco Manix and the Spyderco Chinook.

Spyderco invented the two things that make a folding knife tactical, the Spyder-hole and the pocket clip! Before them, the Buck 110 was about as tactical as a folding knife got (practical, but not very tactical).

Add Knifemaker Ernest Emerson to the mix, and you get the "wave" feature, which he invented to automatically deploy the blade of a folding knife the second it's pulled from a pocket. It doesn't get much more tactical than that!

The end result is, in my opinion, the finest tactical folder on the market today, the Spyderco Endura IV (w/ the Emerson "wave" feature):

rrg991981, if you want some more salient recommendations, help us help you by narrowing down what you're looking for.

  • What budget do you have for the knife?
  • What kind of knives are legal where you live(dimensions, functions, etc.)?
  • Are you partial to any blade steels or handle materials?
  • Do you want a design that's easily replaceable?
  • Is this knife primarily for self-defense, or many purposes?
  • Do you mind if the knife is not made in America?
  • Are you left-handed?
  • Do you have a preference for how the knife will be carried, such as in a front pocket or in some sort of sheath?

Answering just a few of these will give us more of an indication of what best suits you rather than a flood of disparate recommendations based on personal favorites. Without input from you, my candidate for personal recommendation is Spyderco's Yojimbo, but that's just me.

Wow, that seems like a lot of knife for about $50. I think you just talked me into buying one.
