Best "throwaway" folder $25-35 range?

I need a new cheap/decent knife that I can carry and not cry if I have to ditch it at an unexpected metal detector. My most common carry knives are Microtech autos and Benchmade folders. I've had to toss a $200 knife in the bushes outside a music venue and I'd prefer not to do that again. I was able to retrieve the knife later but I was worried sick the whole time.

I'm looking for a $25-35 knife that won't break my heart if I lose it in the bushes or some security guy's trash can.

Something in the 3-3.5" range, tip up carry with a thumb stud.

Deep carry clip is a plus but not absolute. I want a fairly narrow knife. I don't mind thicker too much but I can't stand a wide body knife like the ZTs.

Any suggestions?

I have a couple I keep for those very same reasons and sticky fingered TSA/baggage handlers. I went to the secondary market and picked up a Spyderco Tenacious ($25 shipped)and a Kershaw Blur ($23 shipped) both in new condition.

Buck Vantage is as close as you're going to get. IMO, beats many other blades in the same price option, and is very deep pocket carry as the clip was designed.

I got these off eBay for cheap...have not try them but cheap enough to throw away.

The Kershaw Compound @ less than $20 is one of the best inexpensive knives I own.
It's so good , I forget it's a cheap knife.
It's not deep carry, but the clip can be switched for tip down carry and the blade shape is reminiscent of an Emerson Horseman.

Picture isn't mine

I agree with the buck vantage select or even the avid, I see both under $40. Or the spyderco tenacious, OkC utilitac 2, sog salute, kershaw salvo. A few of my favorite cheapos.

Check out Kershawguys blem thread in the dealers listing. He has a a lot of good choices in that price range and they are much better knives than what the price lets on. From what I have seen in my purchases from him there is nothing wrong besides maybe a cosmetic blemish. They make great beat around knives since they are such a good price.

I think kershaw would be the way to go. They have many lower end models that are still really solid. I've got a Leek with ss handles and a CPM D2 blade that I carry a lot. It's probably my slimmest profile knife, holds a pretty wicked edge, and it was pretty cheap (I think I payed about $40 for the knife)! The chive or scallion would be really good too in a little smaller size.

For a throwaway knife, check out some of the Enlan / Ganzo offerings.

They're cheap as borscht (in the neighbourhood of 7-20$ each) and lots of folks on these forums have been using them successfully.

My dad scooped up two Kershaw Tremors for $12.00 each from a bricks and mortar store near his place, ended up giving one to me for Christmas too!

It's an incredible knife at that price point...

The Rat 1 is another really strong contender for sure and there's also many other kershaws in the price range you're looking at as well.

Good luck with your choice!

Yeah, totally missed that part. LOL! :foot:

How about a benchmade Fecas Snipe then?... Still around $30 bucks and they're a big impressive knife for the money.
