Best "throwaway" folder $25-35 range?

My dad scooped up two Kershaw Tremors for $12.00 each from a bricks and mortar store near his place, ended up giving one to me for Christmas too!

It's an incredible knife at that price point...

The Rat 1 is another really strong contender for sure and there's also many other kershaws in the price range you're looking at as well.

Good luck with your choice!

Wow! $12 for the tremor!!! Man that's a fat deal. Tremor is a bad ass knife 9" long...I've been keeping an eye out on eBay & cheapest on now is $19.75 shipped...I'm waiting for something come up aroun $16 and ill pull the trigger. Man $12 for the tremor , nice deal..let me know if your dad have an extra one? I can pay $16 LOL....

I would recommend some of the lower cost imported Kershaws (Volt II, OSO Sweet, Clash, Chill) or blems (Leek, Skyline), but most of those are flippers, not thumbstuds. The RAT-1 is a great knife in that price range. Some of the Chinese knives might fit the bill too - Enlan EL02, EL04, or EL06.

Lets see....Thumb studs? check. Tip up? check. Deep carry clip? check. $25-$35 range? nope $20ish for the medium 3" blade. $25ish for the large 3 5/8" blade.

Mine is the medium size, 3" scale to tip. My work knife. Buck's 420hc, and made here in the U.S.A.

utilitac is what i would get. Smoothest knife for the price. Solid lockup centered blade tip up carry under $30 same company that makes the rat-1.

I need a new cheap/decent knife that I can carry and not cry if I have to ditch it at an unexpected metal detector. My most common carry knives are Microtech autos and Benchmade folders. I've had to toss a $200 knife in the bushes outside a music venue and I'd prefer not to do that again....Any suggestions?

Common sense would dictate walking back to your car and leaving it there.

Anyone have a Kershaw Crown? It seems to meet all the criteria and is a handsome looking knife but I've never handled one.

Kershaw Skyline - You can pick it up cheap and maybe get a deep carry clip for it from USA knife maker?

Or I would suggest the Spyderco UKPK Lightweight slipit.
Around a 3" blade in your choice of shape, different color handles, low ride clip, decent steel. A good knife for the money. I love Spyderco's slipits.

Cold Steel Pocket Bushman.

Very thin, lots of blade, sturdy, and you won't cry if you drop it or loose it.

I stopped at Walmart to pick up some ammo tonight and they had the Crown for $14.87. For half my intended budget I thought it was worth a shot so I picked one up.

I like the blade shape which is hollow ground and came shaving sharp. The handle is nicely rounded and comfy if a tad thick. Overall, it's about a 1/3" longer than my Mini Grip butbquite a bit heavier. The blade flicks open fairly easily but not as effortlessly as the Mini Grip. The lock up is great though, with zero play up and down or side to side.

The Crown has got to be the most handsome $15 Chinese knife on the planet. The satin polished blade and bolsters with black micarta scales are a refreshing change from the flat bead blasted dull grey common in the sub $40 price range.

It is a bit heavier than I'd like and I'm thinking of removing the scales to drill some lightening holes in the frame. I will probably also grind down and re-shape the raised tip of the pocket clip to make it less likely to snag.

Overall, I think I'm going to be pleased with this knife, especially for $15.

Search for Kershawguy - he has a blemish thread here.

Get your pick of fine Kershaws many that in your price range.

Spyderco Byrd knives come immediately to mind. The Cara Cara is about $25-30, easy to carry and about the right size. You can click on my signature line for a review.

I had a Pink Native in my pocket not too long ago and dropped it under some bushes when I realized the sporting venue had metal detectors. It was there when I got out.
