Best "throwaway" folder $25-35 range?

Damn, I envy those who can afford to throw away $25 without crying about it.

Even when I was financially well-off I wouldn't think about throwing away $25. I worked hard for my money. Now I'm poor and still work hard for my money.

If I absolutely needed to carry a cutting tool that I could afford to throw away I'd choose one of those folding utility knives they sell at Home Depot, etc, for around $5. But even throwing away $5 would bother me.

I got a Spyderco Resilience quite cheaply a couple of years ago. It sat in the glove box one winter then has been pouched in a small Maxpedition bag for the last year. I'm not sure if I have ever sliced anything but a piece of paper with it, more than once.

It's not that I plan to throw my cheap knife away but if I have to ditch it or stash it somewhere and try to retrieve it later, better a $15 Kershaw than a $80 Benchmade or $200 Microtech.

A certain big box retailer sells folding knives for $1.00

You could spend $30.00 and throw 1 away / day for a month.

I can't think of one good example of anyone other than a criminal who would have cause to ditch or stash a knife only to come back for it later.

Kershaw Drone, around $29.00 or less. Can't beat it. Of course all the Spyderco Value folders, but you want a thumb stud, so I would check out Kershaw. They make great value folders. And they are Spring Assist! Myerco is another one to think about. Lot's of those China made knives out there that are great for that need. Yea, I would vomit if one of my Chris Reeve, Striders or Fantoni's where confiscated or lost. Put them in the display case and beat the heck out of the others. That's what they are for!

The $1 WalMart knife gets my vote. I bought one and thrashed on it. It surprised the heck out of me.

Edge was functional, and it took a LOT of prying and twisting to actually get it to break. If I needed a knife that I could throw away and not miss, it's one of those.

Better to throwaway a $10 knife than a $35 version, so I would go with something like Enlan or SRM - one of the cheapy Chinese knives that you get on eBay. And you get a lot of knife for a $10 bill.

Or a Vic Compact or Spyderco Bug on your keys. This might actually make it through a metal detector since its on your keys.

Better yet, don't bring a knife somewhere it will get confiscated. I know thats not always easy to foresee, though.

Another vote for Kershaw Vapor. Mine stays in the door compartment of my car. It is very useable and of great quality for the price point, but won't break my heart if something happens to it.

I don't have any plans to throw it away or hide it, I just want one that I don't feel guilty about banishing to the car, or that I can abuse to the point of destruction if I must.
