Best watch for low budget??

One of the Seiko 5s with the 7s26 automatic. That movement will out last quartz and solar movements by decades.

If you don't mind waiting a bit, you might take a look at the Vostok Amphibia with a WR of 200m. Ebay seller by the name of Zenitar probably has the best selection. You can pick these up for around $85-$100 including shipping.

It's hard to beat a G-Shock. Most of them are at or under 100.00 and they last forever.

In the past 5 years I've bought my wife about 8 watches. From walmart watches to bulova to Marc Jacobs, she has destoyed them all within a short period of time. Don't ask me how because I still can't figure it out.

The last watch I got her was a g-shock, its lasted over a year and is still perfect.

I wear a tough solar g-shock with atomic timekeeping. Honestly it's the best watch I've owned and I've had a lot! It's about $100 on amazon

Well, I traded for a Casio G Shock GX-56. I hope it's not to big! :o

Casio makes a fair watch for the money.

Whether you go for analog or a digital display, Casio offers tough and attractive watches for <$100, and even the ones for around $50 (such as the DW-5600) are quite good.

Casio G-Shock. There are about a thousand of different ones to choose from and are tough as nails. Most for under the $100 you stipulated.

Under a $100 a Gshock is great, as is a Swiss army field watch or the timex weekender on leather at $45 this is one of my favorite watches of all time. In a former life I was ocd about watch collecting and had some watches that cost as much as a new truck. Which sadly is not alot of money compared to what ppl in the watch world spend.

I only mention that as no one in these watch circles would ever fault ypu for having a g shock, seiko skx (get the kinetic) or citizen eco drive Diver version or this timex weekender on leather it has a classic clean style to it.

PS for the Gshock you are better off with a battery. The Solar can have problems. The battery lives/ is good for 7 to 9 years.

I had one Gshock for 18 years I changed the battery once in all that time! They are bullet proof! Edit sorry I didn't realize I necromanced an old thread lol.

I have 3 of these....lol. One for work, one for outings, and one I put a Zulu on. My wrist is 7.5", and it's super comfortable and looks right. I've had my work covered in dust, mud, and whatever else you can imagine. They can be found easily under $100, and it's tough as nails and looks good. Plus, I HATE changing batteries, so I like this as its solar.

Can't go wrong with a Patek Phillipe !

:D
Mr. Black, would you care to share with the membership the cost of a base model(stainless steel) Patek Phillipe Nautilus? I am not without blame sir so I can't complain, my sister and my children gave me a Rolex Explorer for my 50th b-day. Whadya gonna do? G-Shock watches are nice, but on a budget I lean toward the light powered watches made by Citizen.

I went looking for a wrist watch I was looking at G-shocks but every one I liked I could only buckle in the last hole in the band .
I looked at other Casio's and found this watch

It has worked great for me. I wanted a analog dial and simple
It has kept time great over the last year. I am hard on watches , I'm a plumber so they get wet hit with tools etc . and it is still going strong ! (it is rare for a watch to last me a year) I think it was in the $40 range

Some great suggestions here... Seiko 5, Casio, Timex... My vote goes to the Vostok Amphibia as well. Very durable, 200m water resist, automatic in house movement... All you'll need is a nato strap for it.

I have two G Shocks 5600 & 6900 both solar. They are tough & durable. That said I like my Timex Ironman better for 2 reasons. Timex has larger and easier to read display. The alarms on both Casio watches are not loud enough. Very weak. The Timex Ironman has a much louder alarm. This is important if you have ever slept though an alarm.

I've been using my Orient Mako as my "beater" watch for quite sometime now and I absolutely love it. I have it on a black NATO strap and have right around $100 into it with the watch and strap. It still looks good enough to wear to work on like casual Fridays too. Automatic mechanism so never have to buy batteries and it's waterproof down to 200 meters. I just looked it up on Amazon which is were I bought mine and it appears the price has went up a little so is now $15 over your budget. Amazon fluctuates a lot though so it could drop back down tomorrow or this evening even lol. http://www.amazon.com/Orient-CEM650...F8&qid=1444161183&sr=8-4&keywords=orient+mako

Another watch that is my all time favorite but is going to be around $50 over budget is the Seiko Monster line.

Here is a picture I just took of my Orient.

I'm still wearing my Casio Edifice battery powered analog. Love the thing. Looks pretty classy too. My Wenger sits idle on my desk and my G-Shocks are mostly used when I go fishing or doing particularly rough (lots of shock) work and painting. Let me tell you, it sucks to try to get paint off a G-shock, but I always forget to take it off.... paint. Yuck. Like my SAK in the pocket, I always have a watch on.

Ditto on the Bertucci recommendation. I now have 4 Bertucci's I regularly rotate while my Casio and Seiko 5 watches mostly stay in the drawer.
