Best watch for low budget??

Amazing, a guy on BladeForums with hair on his arm! Nice watch too!
I've been using my Orient Mako as my "beater" watch for quite sometime now and I absolutely love it. I have it on a black NATO strap and have right around $100 into it with the watch and strap. It still looks good enough to wear to work on like casual Fridays too. Automatic mechanism so never have to buy batteries and it's waterproof down to 200 meters. I just looked it up on Amazon which is were I bought mine and it appears the price has went up a little so is now $15 over your budget. Amazon fluctuates a lot though so it could drop back down tomorrow or this evening even lol. http://www.amazon.com/Orient-CEM650...F8&qid=1444161183&sr=8-4&keywords=orient+mako

Another watch that is my all time favorite but is going to be around $50 over budget is the Seiko Monster line.

Here is a picture I just took of my Orient.

Get a mechanical!

Like previously stated, 100M resistance is probably required. The Orient Mako is a great Submariner homage, i.e. it looks prettier. They are slightly over $100.
The SNZG Seiko 5 line is a nice field watch for right around $100. These look right at home outside (Black, blue, green, or tan faces with matching nylon bands. The case is bead blasted and has a display caseback.)

My watch is the legendary SKX. I have the 173 model, the 007 is the famous one. These are awesome but are $180-$220 new but can be had around $140 used.

But, the only reason I haven't gotten a G Shock is because I don't want it to take wrist time from the Seiko. Go with what you want.

Had to show off my baby, not in the budget category, but swiss made without costing you a couple of house payments! This watch has served me well, not the greatest out there but definitely serves the purpose, just fell in love with the look of this watch! Thanks to this thread, I'm looking at something to EDC and keeping the Tissot PRC 200 as my dress watch, really like the Berrtuci's look and function!

Not really a watch guy, but, I did have a pre Chinese made Luminox that worked great until it finally took one to many drops/bangs and stopped working.

I was going to send it back to be fixed, but, its almost 20 years old and the tritium, while still visible, its not as bright as it was.

Found a Gosasa brand watch on the river site, problem, I cant find anything on Gosasa, the watch is cheap enough and looks good. I could get one of the cheap S&W ones with tritium for less cash but it looks cheap, and its a S&W that has nothing to do with the firearm manufacturer, and the quality may be equal to the S&W knives for all I know.

Just wondering if any of you watch guys ever heard of Gosasa?

Over the years I'd had everything from Timex and Casios, Seikos and a treasured stainless Submariner .The suggestions of G-Shock and Expeditions are bang on. They're tough, reliable and fairly cheap. For outdoorsy/boy scout preparedness/ EDC watches they are very good choices.

BUT!!!! As much as I like the G-Shock, it looks stupid with a suit. Even if you do nothing but surf and do masonry, a man should still have a watch that can be worn with a suit even if he doesn't actually own a suit (or rents tuxedo). Esquire or QC would tell you that any man over a 25 or 30 should not be seen wearing a watch worth less than 5 grand. That's downright stupid, but I do think that over a certain age everyman should own a few essentials and a nice analog watch is one of them.

The Seikos are a really good deal for the money. They are a nice balance between dress and sport. If you're chatting up a woman they always look at the shoes and watch to see how you treat yourself (and therefore them). Although, I'm wearing a dressy watch and tactical boots so I don't take my own advice too seriously.

I'd suggest raising the budget and look at the watch as an investment in yourself. It's one of those things you'll have for years and hopefully pass on to your kids. But the Gshock is fine too, it's your arm and your money.
