Best way to find collectors that will give an axe an appreciative home

FYI

The OP of this thread disappeared from the forum as soon as he was chased off.

The gentleman simply came here for help as we all did the first time.
Will he be back..? Probably not.

Which is the real shame here, someone that could offer insight, experience, information...rather than snipe.

I posted this axe as a nice conclusion to this thread and to show a fellowship among axe collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Some here know me, some do not.

This noise concerns me.

I am beginning to understand the frustrations of past great contributing members that became less frequent and ultimately have disappeared from this site.

I am not happy with the negative attention this single thread has garnished.

I share my collection, information and experience freely...This is a rub for sure.
I too have noticed how much this forum has slowed. Right before my sudden absence, I would be bombarded with alerts for the "what did you rehang", "it followed me home", and other such threads. Now I check in maybe once a week and am lucky to find new posts in more than 3 threads I'm vested in. I'll admit I haven't contributed much of anything, but I'm busy thinning my (huge) collection of stuff, not adding to it. jblyttle jblyttle , @Square_peg , @muleman77 , @Yankee Josh , @Old Axeman , all of them have (mostly) fallen silent (I'm sure there are others, but these guys are the only ones that jumped to mind). Maybe it's just due to this awful year, but I miss all of their contributions. As for you, Miller, you, C crbnSteeladdict , and @cityofthesouth are about the only consistently posting "old timers" on here.

I could not reach him, though I tried...as I only knew of him from this one thread.
I happened to then find the axe listed in auction on ebay last week.

Anyone here had the same opportunity as I.
Does not matter I had every intention of winning.

Did, was I out of line..? Really? Call me out if thats how you feel.

Well said brother. You did no wrong. And you acquired the axe fair and square. I witnessed the posting on that site same as you. Everybody and anybody that was paying attention saw it. Kudos to you for having the balls to go after it! I know you and you are a true collector and your soul intent is always to preserve. That axe landed exactly where it should have. And you have already documented its lineage. No doubt in my mind it made its way home to where it belongs. Keep up the good work friend!

A17, glad you are back. I really enjoy your posts and have missed them. You have a very old soul compared to your chronological age.
dont know why but i figured you (A17) were an old fart, dude, good to see anybody out chopping, specially younger guys
There are worse things in life than being called old....

@ithinkverydeeply was another guy who’s posts I really enjoyed. His leatherwork, tool variety, and oddball/historical items/axes were something I looked forward to, but he too vanished into obscurity. @Agent_H , @rjdankert , and @Brian Rust are m.i.a. as well. For awhile it seemed like there was an established core of axe guys, but they vanished during my absence and I miss that camaraderie.

Many reasons I can think that any one person would drop out from forum participation. It's not right to make the presumption being implied that all comes down to some perceived bad vibe. Also does no service to the ones who are not present to ascribe a motivation for that person's choices, which are unknowable.

If this is directed at me, I didn't say it was due to bad vibes, I just said I missed 'em.

I just thought of another reason I don't post as much, having to use an image hosting site significantly adds to the amount of time spent creating a post. I'll still do it, but I don't post as many minor axe-related things I do because I know I'll have to spend 5 or so minutes uploading and transferring my pictures.
