Best way to get an HTM?

I checked out the "dealers" link pages, and many did not have the exact model I wanted.

Is it easier to just go to HTM's website and order the exact model I want?

What HTM's do you have or had neuron? :)

Haha, only two (for now!): one SAO Gun Hammer Bowie blade (which I ended up selling off because I got into a bit of a "no assisted openers" phase) and one manual Gun Hammer Torpedo blade (which shipped earlier this week and should be arriving tomorrow or early next week).

I was also thinking about getting a HTM Madd Maxx 5.5, but then I was able to snag a full custom MM 5.5 straight from the man himself at the CA Custom Knife Show last weekend. :D

Quick addition: a few hours after you started this thread, Neil of True North Knives posted the third version of the TNK Exclusive HTM Gun Hammer on his site. (The main difference this time around is that the TNK exclusive version has copper-colored aluminum scales instead of the regular black or brown.) He has them in quite a few different blade shape and finish combinations, so if you like the scale color more than the regular offerings, you might also check there to see if one of the models is what you're looking for:

Darn - nice score. tell us about it. Are you going to do a review in the review section about it or do I have to nag you about it in PMs - which I'm cool with too. :D

Thank you, gentlemen. The TNK copper handled ones look nice, I might pick it up there.

This drives me nutzzz it's so funny!! What a hoot. RIP MJ. :D

I'm going to get a 4" HTM gunhammer Bowie that Darrel announced would be coming soon. We're gonna keep on nagging you for it Darrel! :D

Amen. I'm already in line to pick up a 4" Gun Hammer Bowie too. I'm excited about getting my first DDR. The only thing that could possibly make it better would be if it were a framelock. Maybe I'll have it modified after I get it.

I love that gif too. MJ's face is priceless.

Arrghh. I really shouldn't be buying more knives. But I REALLY want one of those copper ones with a Bowie blade. Maybe if I can sell off one of my airsoft guns...

The MJ pic is really funny - I can't look at it w/o chuckling. :D

I was confused about the locking system until harkumus (I think) showed me a closeup pic of the lock. I think of it as a very thick ti framelock with a scale over it - I don't know if that makes sens or not. I wish Darrel would explain what the diference between his lock and a framelock is. The locking bar is huge and titanium from my understanding. I think we're the same in that we like the loiok of the fully exposed RIL framelock. I know I am, they just look good to me.

It's certainly beefy. If you want more pics, I can take some and upload them. I've got my GH in my pocket right now.

There's nothing too mysterious about it; it's just a thick titanium liner lock. :)

Yeah. I believe that kind of lock is called an "buried integral lock", where you have a primary frame lock with a floating scale over it.

I prefer the exposed framelock, too. In addition to looking more raw and awesome, you have the added benefit of your hand acting as a secondary safeguard. As long as you're gripping that SOB tight, it won't shut as easily, even if the lock should fail.

I've just had a few unpleasant experiences with liner locks failing when they really shouldn't have. And these knives weren't garbage - they came from reputable companies.

Who knows - maybe HTM would be willing to make a slight modification to a standard production Gun Hammer by making a frame lock version. Or just modifying one person's Gun Hammer at request for an additional fee.

Yes please, Crimson. It would add greatly to the discussion, and would be much appreciated.

Plus, I don't think anyone here would mind adding a few pics to their knife porn folder, either. :D

Best way is either through Darrel himself or True North Knives. TNK seems to stock them quite a bit. The website may not reflect it, but I'm told that the website is not always an accurate assessment of what's in stock or not. Email TNK and find out.

The HTM website has GH 2.0. TNK's exclusive copper handled GH's are 3.0. Are there factory 3.0 or is the "3.0" just the exclusive's label?

The '3.0' just means that they're the third round of TNK exclusive Gunhammers. Other than the handle colors and blade finishes, there isn't any difference between the TNK Gunhammers and the ones available directly from HTM.
