Best?

I gravitate to spear points, whether fixed or folders. Kepharts, bushcraft, and R9 still seem to get the most use, so 3-4" blades. What style does the R9 most closely fit in everyone's opinion?

I'd say that it's a spear point. Of course I'm no expert on the subject.

The drop point hunter style knives work great for most cutting tasks, as long as it isn't overly thick.

The honest truth is that I use knives the most in my kitchen for food preparation. In my kitchen, I have four JK knives, the Cutlass, the Galley Wag, the Chef's knife and probably the most used, the modified wharncliffe in thinner 01.

A run of the Galley Wag in thinner steel for great kitchen use would be cool.

How about a run of the excellent Kitchen series - with the matching paring knife?

I would think a run of the Kitchen knife with optional matching paring knife would make a set that most of the supporters would put to use daily.

Hard to choose a single 'best' design. In general terms the knives I like best tend to be drop points or spear points. My favorite production knives are probably the ESEE Laser Strike, the 3/4, the Izula 2 and the Ontario RAT-7. But on an individual basis one of my favorite JKs is the Canadian in orange G-10 built for my dad.

I'm a knife geek so I'm aghast of the notion of 'one knife' but outside of kitchen work I could probably get by with three knives: I would take a Spyderco folder for EDC and a pair of larger knives for everything else, probably my Bony Active Duty and my JK Camp Knife. Obviously I don't understand marketing or the knife buying public very well- I can't understand how John hasn't sold fifty copies of the Camp Knife already!

Yeah I can't either I watch people argue over who gets to buy some knives and I've held those brands. I didn't care for them so I don't own any. I think it's more of a status symbol. I've always been a backwoods kind of guy. I only lived in a real city once and I won't do that again.

The Gallywag and the Kitchen/Camp Knife are my votes for two very useful blade shapes - good looking too.

STILL - my all time favorite JK is the RULE #9. There is nothing in a general purpose life that that knife couldn't do. IMHO.

I couldn't possibly agree more.

I refer a spearpoint, mostly like the keppie, but the stretched Bluegill or Stretch Worker have really looked handy for all around kitchen and small chores, which aremost of my camping needs around a campsite. The perfect blade size would be 3 to 4.5 inches with a full four finger grip, more comfortable in the hand and able to maneuver the blade easier too. Thanks for letting me share just my two cents. Keep the ideas coming.
