After looking at the progress, you made this morning; I think I'll go back to bed. I'm not ready for the day yet.

I do have all 72 holes to size and chamfered on both sides now :D

Joe that Donut is sounding pretty good to me right about now..:)

Wow I feel like a lazy bum. I have been thinking about having some pocet knife blades and lock bars done by laser. Any recomendations clues or feeling on this

I was still in bed when you started this thread. I've now had my coffee and read the paper. I also made two Jimmy Dean pancake and sausage breakfast sandwiches. Man are those things gooooooooooooooooood. I'm now moving my beer making supplies to a cabinet in the garage. After that, I will get down to knives. Going to get the forge and welding machine out today and make some stuff.

12 ?? That puts you out of the 'custom knife' and into the 'production knife' category !!!

I now have some advice on a company see below :(

Robert
this 12 may as well have been 13  for the luck I'm having now..

I thought I'd try emachineshop.com to laser these for me and they also got the steel for them also,
the steel they sent me in these blanks is junk, it will not harden
this stuff can not be 1095 or any other type of high carbon steel,, I can't even get it to warp quenching it in water,,
this sux .. so much for a days work.. and $268.07 to them..:grumpy:

I will up date on how they treat this situation.. I had to wait a month and a half to get this order from them to start with..that was bad enough :(

I'm sorry to hear that Dan. :( Hope it was just a stocking error, on their part

and they will make it rite.

Fred

Geez that's not good. If they don't replace your order, maybe you should post it in Good/Bad/Ugly.

Dan,
Send me a piece and I will have it analyzed for you. At least then you can tell them what it is instead of just what it is not. Email if interested.
Matt Doyle

Dangit thats bad news! I cant believe somebody could make such a dumb mistake. They must pay.

Thats a good idea of Matts to have them analyzed.

Wow, that really stinks!

On the bright side, it could be a LOT worse.

You could have sent them $10K in damascus that took six months to get and prepare and they could have sent you back a bunch of scrap, half of which you could save if you devote a couple hundred hours to it .... you know, something along those lines ...

This sounds familiar Joe.

Damn.... how did that happen? Insured I hope.

Hope the laser guys replace them free of charge and shipping Dan, since you've already paid good money for bad scrap...
