Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Some great drops here, you folks have good taste in beverages as well as cutlery

Out of interest, how much do you guys in the US pay for your beer? Here, that would be considered ridiculously inexpensive! I recently paid just less than that for a single bottle, a special bottle albeit, and have certainly paid more. The average price of a pint of beer in London is around £5 ($7.21) I think :(

Like anything I think it varies depending on what part of the country you're in, but around here at least the American mega-brewery stuff (Budweiser, Miller, etc.) goes for, say, $15-$18 for 24 cans/bottles (I think… I haven't bought much of that in a long time), imports and the better American stuff (Shiner, New Belgium, etc.) runs more like a dollar a bottle ($10-$12 for a 12 pack), then the true micro-brewery stuff can range anywhere from $6 or $7 for a six pack (usually more affordable if it's local) to something like that Ballast Point, which I want to say cost me like $14 for a six pack around here. (It is really good though! :D)

And to avoid being scolded for not talking knives, here's what I use to open all those delicious beers! :D

Friend gave me this bottle today. Have never tried it so, maybe one sip on a work night.

That sir, is an extremely good dram. One of my absolute favourites. Make sure that if you have to name it, you pronounce the Gaelic correctly or you'll have a hangover in the morning! (Local myth)

;)

Jack - I would say that price for Sculpin is pretty good at $20 for 12. I pay around $13 for a six pack where I live. However, it is also a pricier beer (worth it). There are many that sell for less than that.

Is that $7.00 per pint in a pub or from a store?

This sixer of Alpine was about $14 out the door. I'd say that's a fairly standard starting point for Stone, Pizza Port, Ballast Point, Green Flash and most of the other popular west coast six packs with their seasonal releases shooting upwards of $17+. Single bombers (22oz) usually start around $6-7 and go upwards of $12+ depending on style and strength.

Thanks for the pricing info gents, very much appreciated  The £7 pint I referred to was a pub price. I was out with ScruffUK for his birthday a while back, and we rounded off the evening with a couple of Stone beers, cost me just under $30!

Great-looking Beer Scout Barrett

Talk of stone reminded me that I had this sitting in my fridge. I love the simplicity of this Bantam I just recently received as well.

Thanks mate. You should try some. Great beer company with some delicious options. This hook works very well in pocket also.

I'll definitely look out for it. Stone beers are very expensive here, but I've yet to try one which didn't excel

Hopefully with Stone opening a brewery in Berlin this year the prices will come down and the selection will increase! They make a lot of great stuff and their two brewery/beer gardens here in the US always have 25-30 of their own creations on tap as well as many other specialty selections from other Brewers. If you like IPAs and hoppy beers you will be blown away when you get your hands on a freshly brewed one that didn't have to make the journey all the way across the pond. They do a great job on really big dark beers as well which I enjoy a lot-

Older picture haha, I promise you I don't drink 10% beers for breakfast!

Thanks for the information StoneBeard, much appreciated  As to the price, unfortunately it's unlikely to change as most of it is down to high tax :(

Anytime Jack. I do enjoy a good beer and the discussion that comes with it. That is unfortunate about the tax issue. I had never even considered that being the reason for the higher price. Is that a general tax? Or one the only applies to the sale of alcaholic beverages?

Thanks again :) It's a sales tax, but there's a very high rate on alcohol, and on stronger beers in particular, in fact the majority of the cost is tax, being several times more than any other European country :(

My morning brew ;)
