Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Johnny, I'm not a huge fan of IPAs in general, and I've never tried an IPA from Dogfish Head. But I've had porters and stouts from Dogfish Head, and thought they were outstanding!:thumbsup:

I've never been a regular coffee drinker, but I finally decided in September that I'd try ingesting caffeine each morning to stay awake at work (a problem that I've faced for almost 3 years now). Here's what I typically drink with my toast each morning:

A cup of OJ nuked for 90 seconds, and then stir in a heaping teaspoon of Folgers instant coffee crystals. Seems to be helping some.

Egad, GT! I can't decide if you may have discovered a delicious and timesaving new breakfast beverage, or potentially mixed two things that should never be in the same mug, at the same temperature!:) I can't help but think of the horrid tasting 'shandies' the ladies at my local bowls club imbibe - equal parts OJ and chardonnay!:D:eek:

Your taste in knives is impeccable, though, my friend!;)

My Lambsfoot went out for breakfast with me this morning

Heh heh, I see you couldn't resist taking a bite out of the Brussels sprout first!:p I would have done the same, love 'em when they're done right!;)

A quick pic of a bite to eat and an ale to wash it down with, in the clubrooms after a session at my local range:

OJ and Chardonnay?! That's actually half an avocado mate, they're sticking them on everything here at the moment, nice enough, but I don't want anything GREEN with my breakfast! :D The avocado came hanging into my baked beans, which for some reason were in a little pot, so I transferred it to the side of my plate, and then had it with the toast. Now that looks more like it my friend! :)

Oops, LOL, must have been wishful thinking!:) Yeah that 'smashed avo' thing's getting flogged everywhere here at the moment as well: which basically means cafes charge $10 for some avocado and lemon juice on toast. Not that's there's anything wrong with avocado: dicing them in their skins and extracting the cubes gives me something to use the spey blades of my stockman knives for.;):D

LOL! :D Yeah, just the same here :D Up until about three years ago, I can only really remember coming across avocado in guacamole, now it's on my breakfast plate! What's going on?! :D

Brown ale can be too sweet for me, but this is good. The malts are complex enough [BS alert] that the sweetness isn't cloying.
The knife is made from a file. I put on a stouter guard and epoxied the handle.
The opener is made from a railroad spike, and does a surprisingly fine job.

GT (that's not Gin&Tonic either, one of my favourite summer drinks:)) I too have difficulty staying awake(sane) at work but it certainly isn't due to lack of caffeine intake:D:D 40cl of super strength espresso with milk:eek::cool:

Don't worry, it's just a restaurant glass. It's actually filled with a wonderful basil Pilsner from Chatham Brewing.

It is a good thing that you explained what was in the glass . If it had been what the glass states, we would have had to have an intervention !!
Basil Pilsner sounds yummy

Off work now and starting a 9 day vacation, including the start of my deer hunting in southern Illinois. I've got a good selection of libation for the evening!
