Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

These two seemed like a fitting combination. :D

I'm partial to Payback Porter. Love the bottle. Finally figured out the correct knife to put with it. For obvious reasons, it does not get carried these days. For that matter, I've had it since the 60's and I don't think I've ever carried it.

I've never seen that brew, Frank. I'll have to look for it. Nice old knife too!

rinos, I admire the handle of your knife very much!! And my wife once found me a bottle of St. Peter's Cream Stout somewhere; my recollection is that it was excellent!

(Is there some historical meaning to your signature line asking the Lord to spare you because you're from Dalmatia?)

Thanks for contributing to my knowledge, rinos! At least St. Jerome wasn't tempted by knives he couldn't afford! :D

One of my good friends brought this over for dinner on Saturday. At 16.6% ABV it's far from average but extremely well executed and a very impressive use of ingredients/aging process to get the desired final results!

Knarfeng, I also enjoy payback porter 👍 Speakeasy makes some fine beers. That is a nice old push button you have there. I once had an old Italian model but couldn't say where it ever went. It also was not carried as I didn't want to cause alarm taking it out to mess with. Who makes the one pictured?

I've been inspired by the posts in this thread. Thought I'd add one of my own. I haven't opened this bottle, it was a birthday gift. I don't drink a lot of Bourbon so I figured I'd save it. The knife is a 1991 vintage Puma Medici that I picked up a short time ago.

Gary Very elegant Puma that one, and a bit of a rare bird I rather think.

As for the Bourbon, I'd gladly help you make a start on it :D:D When I think about spirits, which is not that often as wine is what I like, with a beer starter, it's interesting the different 'national' spirits. You Americans discovered Bourbon which I think is the finest of strong drinks, I like English Gin, the French have fine Cognacs but I prefer their Calva and Armagnac. Vodkas from here or Sweden or Russia interest me not at all, even though they are all different and traditional. In Germany and the Balkans there are fruit Schnapps but I don't get moved by them either, then there's Tequilla which many love and I abhor:eek::barf::D It's endlessly interesting to contemplate our different tastes, but I raise a glass now to the Forum!

Thanks, Will
