Right it is a souvenir of my camping years in Hungary. It used to make some excellent expresso on the field (the tube needs to be soldered now to work again).

Great collection of corks. :D You clearly seem to prefer reds and bordeaux (no, I did not see the many riojas  :) ). Having lived down there (ex-wife and daughter/grandson still do), I'm more bourgogne (if you can locate some try épineuil or irancy, not so long ago they were still classified "vins de table" and may be an economic alternative, this year will not produce much anywhere with the hail) but any Guigal côte du Rhône (especially a Côte-rôtie) would make my ordinaire! :)

Thanks again JP:thumbup: You have to understand that our alcohol policy in this country is horribly restricted (how they get away with that and the cost of new cars under EU rules I'll never know!) Only 3 shops in my town, two of them on the outskirts, are places where you can buy alcohol over 5% wines beers sprits et al. A state monopoly. So our wine selection is circumscribed and expensive, yes I like Bordeaux Reds and Whites such as Sancerre/Sauv Blanc. Bourgogne is expensive and less reliable, that said, pinot noir is exceptional, some nuits saint georges I had was astounding. As for Spanish wines, I do like them too, tough, nutty and resonant. A type of Sangre de Toro I had recently was really impressive, but it's only ordinaire type and that's 14€ a bottle so you see my position...:grumpy:

Nice map showing a beautiful area where your daughter lives, and your son in the Midi and you in Paris! What superb variety, lucky you. That's a fine set of knives too, the wooden handled job looks sleek yet rustic. I need to win the lottery soon before I die so I can motor down to France and learn more about wine, because wine like Traditional knives, always offers something new to learn and appreciate.

Thanks, Will

My lady friend picked out this beer for me; said it fit her mood!

Thanks for the laugh.

My all time favorite wine just happens to be from a local winery about 35 miles from my house. 18% alcohol Port style wine packed in a 375ml bottle and oh so good! It's not opened yet but it will be after supper.

Some Knob Creek Rye with a dash of bitters (an Old Fashioned sans sugar) and the beloved Case CV Sowbelly.

You inspired me. I decided to take it in a slightly different direction tonight, though. Rye gin with a dash of bitters and the beloved Schrade 34OT.

Greg and Scott, I'm playing along at home with some Genever and bitters and my new Mini Copperhead!

Stonebeard - that is some pretty high-test whiskey! 140 proof - Lordy! (Great patina on that Tidioute.)

Whittlin Greg - nice looking drink and knife. I've never heard of rye gin, I'll have to hunt some down. I do love me some Angostura bitters!

Shawn - All right! It is the Friday night Angostura Bitters party!

Hope you guys didn't get too crazy with the angostura last night! :D

It's a lovely morning for some Cafe au Lait with my Antique River Log Peanut.

I woke up chipper, but that doesn't mean I'm skipping coffee! Here's my nice mug of Kona blend with my carry for the past week, a Case 63090 SS Medium Stockman in old red pocket worn bone.

Happy weekend, Porch!

Thanks Zachus, the #54 gets a good bit of use. The Whiskey was generously gifted to me last week by a good friend. It's great stuff but only in very small doses. At nearly %70 ABV that bottle should last me a very long time.

Nope just the one beverage that I sipped for a good long time. :D

Lovely knife! Who makes it?

It's a Case Peanut. I had never seen the Antique River Log handle covers until someone casually mentioned them in another thread last week or so. I started doing some digging around and really enjoyed the story behind the material, as well as the look of the wood itself. Just another little gem that's gets hidden by the massive amount of handle covers Case produces.
