Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

If I'm not mistaken and if memories serves?
"If your gonna be stupid, you gotta be tough!" was printed on the Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull's behind. :p
That one "The Bull" and Lowenbrau (aka low in brains) were incredibly popular in the late 1970's.
My best friend met and later married "Frau Lowenbrau 1979" a few years later. :p:D
Frau Lowenbrau could spill more beer than most guys could drink.
Haven't thought about those two beers in nearly 40 years! :D
Oh, I loved Lowenbrau! :D:D:D
And Michelob. Can't stand the "Ultra", but the old Michelob I liked. Weekends were made for it!

Continuing with the stouts this evening. This one is an Obsidian Stout from Deschutes Brewery.

Yeah, Michelob was very popular too!
Most of our Dad's drank Coors which means...:p
We would go to Atlanta every summer and my Dad would take a couple of cases of Coors to my Grandpa & Uncles!
They thought Coors the best beer ever! :D

It was also fun discovering import beers in the service.
Moosehead Modelo Heineken Bass Guinness etc :)

Tonight it's a run (more of a slow trot) for the rose's! :D

Did you driver the rig or the Trans Am, Del (Bandit)?
My Dad did all the driving...
We had a station wagon and my Mom would put a blanket over the Coors beer. :p
She was worried sick because it actually WAS illegal (aka bootlegging ) at that time.
If I would have been old enough? The T/A "pedal down" naturally! ;)
East Bound & Down! :D:D

Hey, I was a teenager!
Point taken.;)
I apparently delayed my unwise decisions until I was "legal", and my beer-related indiscretions all came in my 20s. :(

Cool reflective pic of your knife and Miller Lite! ;):cool::thumbsup:

Del, when I was in college in Michigan in the early '70s, there was definitely a mystique surrounding Coors Banquet Beer! ;) Lots of people agreed with your family that Coors was the best beer ever, and folks from Colorado would bring Coors back whenever they went home. I was not discerning enough to appreciate Coors' superiority, and actually preferred PBR at the time. I had a friend from the Chicago area with whom I went home a few times for holidays or even weekends, and his Dad drove to Wisconsin periodically to bring back loads of Leinenkugel beer. That brew seemed quite special to me at the time! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Drinking alcohol was "legal" for me at 18, but I probably started at 17. Of course, there were "indiscretions" after I was 20 too.

How do you like the Hacker-Pschorr, Stuart? I've been trying a variety of Festbiers for the past 2 or 3 weeks, and will probably get a couple more new-to-me brands when I get groceries tomorrow, but I haven't been very faithful in posting my Oktoberfest adventures here.
Hacker-Pschorr is one that I've tried. I like it OK, but I think I prefer the American "imitations' better than the imported German beers. I definitely like the H-P better that the Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn I posted previously. And as Stuart's photo shows, you can't beat the label art mit der schönen Jungfrau auf kriegerischem Ross!;)

I like it, GT, as a break from the "more flavor forward" American craft märzens. I do like them, but this beer (supposedly in its 600th year of production) seems a fun one to drink if you are drinking more than several. It is lighter in color and, despite 5.8% abv, flavor. I like porters, stouts, and darker märzen beers (e.g. Dos Equis Ambar and Spaten Oktobefest), but this one is a nice break from mucho malty brews. I find it goes a bit better with food, as it is crisper on the tongue. Maybe I need to try one more to be sure . . .

Working on a Saturday, but I've got a mug of mud and my trusty (but dirty and dull) Peanut.

Thank you, JB! That beer sure does sound ... interesting. I think I would pick your lambsfoot before the beer, though. ;)
