Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Getting into the holiday spirit with a bit of Makers Mark 46 Bourbon spiked Eggnog with Red Bone and Bermuda Green Peanuts.

Greg, although you posted this over a week ago, I thought I should acknowledge that your pic of Founders Porter last week Friday inspired me to look for porter when I went for groceries last Saturday. I don't think I've ever had a porter I didn't like , and Founders is a local brewery for me, but their porter is certainly not one of my absolute favorites. It does have the advantage of always being available to me. But at the grocery store's beer case, I found a new-to-me-porter that I decided to try instead. Today was the first chance I had to actually get a picture of my new and tasty libation along with my venerable Colonial beer scout with the formica countertop covers!

Wonderful pictures everyone.

The Beverage...
"La Biere Du Demon" (The Devil's Beer)
A Beer from Northern France once touted as having one of the highest alcohol contents at 12%, but barely a contender by today's possible standards.

The Blade...
"Laguiole En Aubrac"
A Laguiole styled folding knife from the Aubrac region of Southern France. Features burl wood handles and lovely file work on the back spring.

Great Christmas knife picture:thumbup: I also enjoy a good eggnog and brandy or whiskey during the holidays-

That's a great looking older radio knife, GT  I enjoyed the pictures in another thread before and after you cleaned it up. I have not tried that cappuccino stout but it sounds like a tasty beer.

Very interesting beer and a great looking Luguiole. My wife's grandfather carried a Luguiole every day before he passed away.

I was finally able to try the Hopzeit and really enjoyed it. Your beer barrel BSK is a stunning example

That is an outstanding blade and pairs perfectly with with some nice wine and cheese.

Lambsfoot is still looking good, Greg:thumbup: I spent Friday with coworkers having more then my fair share of pints so I'm with you and coffee was my beverage of the last two days.

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday :)

They look good together Herder

Beautiful knives, Jack  I enjoy seeing them every time they are posted. You were not kidding the other day when you said you picked up some fine ales. Anchors Merry Christmas Happy New Year is one of my absolute favorite holiday ales and always makes the top ten Christmas beer list. I also really appreciate the photo, especially the anchor opener. That was a very nice touch. I also try and pick up a Rogue yellow snow this time of year as well as Santa's Private Reserve. Both are excellent holiday IPAs made by Rouge. I'd have to say my favorite holiday IPA for close to six years now has to be Sierra Nevada Celebration. If you get the chance give it a shot. I have not tried the Dark Arts Surreal stout but did consult the oracle ( internet) and it sounds like a great English stout. What did you think of it?

Thanks for the kind words my friend :) I'll look out for Santa's Private Reserve, and appreciate the recommendation  Celebration is always on my Christmas list, and a few places here do it on draught, as well as in bottles :) Magic Rock are doing some great beers (though their prices have gone up a lot lately), the Dark Arts is a decent and very interesting strong stout, but I prefer some of their other beers (Cannonball is a long-time favourite), and it doesn't quite have the complexity of the Imperial Stouts I prefer. Hope you've got the spring back in your step after the weekend :)

Nice choice, Jack. I see you went with the reasonable sized bottle. I got this one a couple years ago. :D

Thanks Barrett. Wow! I've certainly never seen one in that size! Looks like a lot of fun!:D
