Well, it looks like I've been taken for $210 by Dustyn Lifgren, email a215m30@gmail.com or dustyshelves03@gmail.com. Here is the FS thread

After I paid him, he said the knife was on its way and got no DC# or anything. Never heard from him again. I also made the mistake of paying him with gift option which he requested. I don't believe I have any recourse with paypal when using the gift option but I will contact them to find out for sure.

Anyway, he had 4 feedbacks at 100% so I thought it was trustworthy. No pictures though. I think Bladeforum should require that a picture be posted with a FS add. Maybe they do, I'm not certain.

Lesson learned. I guess I won't be buying from bladeforum for a while. Also, as tempting as it is to do an "I'll take it" on a good priced item, its best to wait for pics and ask some more questions. But then some of the best deals are from quick fingers. I don't know.
 
Just do not do PayPal Gift. If they request gift, send extra to cover the fees. On a $100 send them $104. Its well worth it to protect yourself. I always do all my deals this way, never had a complaint.
 
Its been over a week. Yes, I know what you're thinking, "give it more time". The problem is I've emailed him repeatedly at both email addresses, post on the FS thread, and PM and received no reply. Nothing. I've had bad deliveries before and the seller is in constant communication and there was always a DC#. I've got nothing from this guy.
 
Well, I have no horse in this race, but I hope this doesn't discourage you form using the forums. I have bought and sold tons of knives here and never had a problem. It looks like it was about 8 days ago that you made the deal? Is it possible that maybe he shipped it and has been out of contact for awhile? It is spring break time so maybe he went somewhere out of the way? Just a thought.

I would keep on him, as sometimes things get lost in the mail and people get busy. After reading his for sale post it sure looked legit to me as well, especially some of the details about blade play etc., but maybe that was part of the con. In any case, yoou may still get your knife yet and I hope you do. You may want to contact one of the mods, they are very helpful.
 
Yes, that was my thought as well. The details made it more believable. But, now a days, anyone with a cell can send an email. Any contact from him would have helped. But, nothing. BTW, he said it was shipped on the March 7th, priority mail with DC# and insured for $200. That was all that I heard from him.

I know what you mean tripham. I know that fpr me personally, I do not have a phone with internet and I have been known to go off the grid for days at a time mountain biking and such, but in any case it is his responsibilty to stay in contact and make sure the knife gets to you.

T-dog, time after time we see folks who think they have been stiffed, only to see everything work out. Thats not always the case, and people do get hosed around here from time to time, but more often than not it gets resolved. The seller may chime in and say, "sorry, I had to clean my birdcage and forgot about it" or "I had to take my brother-in-law's cat to the vet and didn't have time". I've had to deal with a few sellers like that too. The moral of the story I guess is not to use the gift option (unless the seller is some swell guy like me), or just not deal with sellers who have under X number of good feedbacks. Even then there are no guarantees, but these things often work out okay, so hang tough.
 
powernoodle, how do you know he's on the forum? I would love it if he chimed in. I will apologize profusely if he gives some sort of explanation and post the DC#.
 
Right next to his name the little dot will be green when he is on. Looking at his profile shows he has been on some in the last few days as well.
 
I highly suggest you contact the mods. It seems he is active one here and the mods are great at helping along situations such as these.
 
He has been online since the 7th, so that would mean he has had access to the internet.
If he does have access and time to make other deals it only takes just a minute to send an email.
He has other things listed and has sold them, hopefully the other people get what they paid for as well.
If he said it was shipped, it should be to you by now.
If he had a DC# why didn't he send it?
If there's insurance, he can get compensated for a lost package if that's the case and get you your money back.

I hope he chimes in here.
 
Man, I am not certain, but I think if you go to PayPal with this they may shut YOUR account down. I think you broke their rules by using the gift option for this deal. I am not entirely familiar with their policies and I almost never use PP but you might want to re-think it. Maybe someone who knows more about PP can add some thoughts. I hope this deal is just a misunderstanding and things get worked out. Like someone else said, you are not the only buyer to deal with this guy in recent days. Good luck.
 
I posted on his FS thread in the production folder and PM him and still nothing. Rycen also PM him.
 
I feel your pain brother....I generally don't send anything gift anymore...if you ever need a local point of contact I'm in pflugerville.
