Just thought I would relay my experience with Savson Swords and Knives.
I ordered a Spyderco Foliage Green Manix on June 3. The website showed that the knife was in stock. I received an email order confirmation the same day. My credit card was charged the following day, June 4. On June 10, I finally received an email stating that my order had shipped via USPS Priority Mail. I do a lot of business online and use USPS Priority Mail almost exclusively and it has been my experience that the longest it has ever taken a shipment to reach its destination is 5 business days. Usually it arrives in 2-3 business days. Also, through literally thousands of transactions, I have only had 1 shipment get lost and it was recovered within a month.

So on June 17, when my shipment had not arrived I sent them an email advising them that I hadn't received my order and asking them for a tracking number so that I could have USPS put a tracer on it. In the email I included two email addresses that I could be reached at as well as my home and cell phone number. Two days later when I still hadn't received a response, I emailed them again with the same request.

The weekend went by without a response so I called the company on monday morning at the phone number listed on their website. I called during their stated business hours, but got their voicemail. Randy, whom I assume is the owner, said in the voicemail that he was either out or on the other line and to leave a message with my name, order number, and phone number and he would return my call promptly. I left the information requested and waited another day for his "prompt" call return. Again nothing so I sent another email requesting a tracking number and attempted to call him again during his business hours. This time the phone rang 16 times and went dead. Tried 5 more times throughout the day with the same results.

The following day, I sent another email stating that I was beginning to get a little concerned about not receiving any response to either my emails or phone calls and requested that he please contact me so that we could figure out what happened to my order. Mind you that each of my emails up to this point had been very polite and simply requested that he furnish me with a tracking number. You guessed it, still no response.

I have now emailed him a total of 12 times and attempted to reach him by phone 15 times leaving voicemails on 5 of the calls. I have not received a response to any of my efforts.

Finally, last friday, the 27th I did my homework. I looked up Savson Swords and Knives on the BBB website and found that he has received a total of 13 complaints since 2006. Only one was reported as being resolved. I also found the Ohio Attorney General's website and intend to file a complaint with them. I also intend to initiate an effort to recover my payment through my credit card company.

I sent a final email to Savson that same friday, again requesting that they extend to me the simple courtesy of providing me with a tracking number. I also advised them that if I didn't receive a response from them by the end of the business day on monday, June 30, that I would initiate proceedings with my credit card company to recover my payment. I would also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and that I would file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office urging that their business license be suspended.

So far, you guessed it, no response.

If you are planning to do business with this company, I wish you the best of luck. Personally, I wish that I had never heard of them.

Your story seems to be the norm for them; sad. Good luck in receiving a charge back on your CC.
rats...

Seems to be business as usual for this company. There have been posts that state Randy is getting his act together, but I have seen no evidence of that. He still seems to pick and choose who he is going to give good service to, and that appears to be a very small percentage of those that order from him.

Just an update. I read a post concerning Savson Swords & Knives in another thread in this forum that said that Tom Manley was now in charge of the business and could be reached at admin@savsonswordsandknives. So, on Sunday, the 29th I sent another email with Attn: Tom Manley IMPORTANT order#xxxxxxx as the subject line to this address. Actually, I sent the same email twice as I used both of my email clients just in case one wasn't getting through. I also called the store again on Monday during their business hours. Got the voicemail again, and again left my name, order number, and phone numbers and requested a call back.

It's now Tuesday, July 1 and still no response to any of my efforts, and still no knife. I guess it's time to request a charge back with my credit card company. I just don't understand how a supposedly legitimate business can be so negligent to their customers.

Sorry to hear of your trouble. A little research now and then is a good thing, No? Here, posts 5 & 6...as mentioned, this isn't the first time they've treated their customers this way.

I hope all this works out well for you.

Lol, at least you've been forwarned. BTW, thanks for the heads up on Classiccutleryusa. I've come real close to buying from them on eBay before. Sounds like you saved me some grief.

Yeah Dan, stay away from them too! Stick with the good guys: New Graham, Knife Center, Spark's place is One Stop Knife Shop, and I've also found another that I've been using: www.cuttingedgeworks.com. That place doesn't always have everything in stock or listed on the site, but they are fast on an email response, getting what you want and getting it out the door!

Yes, I know and I agree. I've bought quite a few knives from New Graham as well as Knife Center, One Stop, and 888 Knivesrus. Never a problem. I was just enticed by the super price Savson had on this Manix. Should have known, some things are too good to be true. Filed for a charge back with my CC company this afternoon so we'll see where that goes.

Ordered a Benchmade 42 Morpho for $160. They sent me the mini griptilian and haven't answered any of my emails and my phone calls. Fuck them and I hope they shut down. Did a CC chargeback. I'm willing to keep the Mini Grip because I don't think I have a way to even get an RMA # from them so I'm content with getting $90 back.

(( The casual vulgarity added nothing to your report. ))

Mongo, you should edit your post before u get an infraction. (I think thats what you get). Im still new here.

Well, I just had almost the same exact experience with the company - received an email stating that my order had shipped on June 4, received my Visa bill showing a charge for the order, but as of today, still no knives. A couple of emails and phone calls to the company have gone unanswered. This company should definitely be avoided.

Sorry to hear that you got bit too Mark. I filed for a charge back with my CC company yesterday. I also filed a complaint with the BBB http://us.bbb.org/WWWRoot/SitePage.aspx?site=113&id=ab12ce37-3680-42cc-9817-df71ecfda32e, and a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office http://www.ag4ohio.gov/Public/consumer.aspx?s=209. I'll let you know how it all shakes out.

Just an update on my dealings with Savson Swords and Knives. On friday, July 11, I received a company check in the mail from Savson. It was a refund for the purchase price of the knife including shipping. The check came in a plain business size envelope and there was no other communication accompanying it.

On monday July 14, I received an email from the Cincinnati OH BBB head stating that they had been in contact with Savson the previous week and that "the company" had agreed to refund my money.

I deposited the check yesterday (monday July 14) and, barring an insufficient funds notice, I guess all is right with the world.

I still stand by my recommendation that you not deal with this company. Buyer beware.

I have placed 4 orders with Savson over the last year and had 3 positive experiences. However, unfortunately, my last order was severely delayed and unlike my early transactions with Randy communication this time was extremely limited/non existant. After lengthy attempts that had to involve both my local and his local law enforcement the items were shipped and received in the expected condition and I was a satisfied customer. Having said this I would recomment anyone that is still waiting for outstanding orders do not delay in contacting you local authorities and insisting that they work with his local authorities to complete your orders. Short of showing up at his address this is the only way you will get any kind of response or communication. There have been rumors that Randy's health is bad so be patient but be persistant. Good luck and please keep the communication open so that others do not get in the same situation. Good luck Randy!! Best wishes to everyone!!

Sincerely,
Gunbuyerisi2

Used to order from them all the time. Always got what I ordered and usually early. I am only posting because I am curious as to the current status of the site. Does anyone know if they closed shop? Can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks.

I bought from them in the best and got great prices and fast shipping. Awhile back I found they changed names/hands. The new site was not set up very well and now is no longer up.
