Just thought I would relay my experience with Savson Swords and Knives.
I ordered a Spyderco Foliage Green Manix on June 3. The website showed that the knife was in stock. I received an email order confirmation the same day. My credit card was charged the following day, June 4. On June 10, I finally received an email stating that my order had shipped via USPS Priority Mail. I do a lot of business online and use USPS Priority Mail almost exclusively and it has been my experience that the longest it has ever taken a shipment to reach its destination is 5 business days. Usually it arrives in 2-3 business days. Also, through literally thousands of transactions, I have only had 1 shipment get lost and it was recovered within a month.
So on June 17, when my shipment had not arrived I sent them an email advising them that I hadn't received my order and asking them for a tracking number so that I could have USPS put a tracer on it. In the email I included two email addresses that I could be reached at as well as my home and cell phone number. Two days later when I still hadn't received a response, I emailed them again with the same request.
The weekend went by without a response so I called the company on monday morning at the phone number listed on their website. I called during their stated business hours, but got their voicemail. Randy, whom I assume is the owner, said in the voicemail that he was either out or on the other line and to leave a message with my name, order number, and phone number and he would return my call promptly. I left the information requested and waited another day for his "prompt" call return. Again nothing so I sent another email requesting a tracking number and attempted to call him again during his business hours. This time the phone rang 16 times and went dead. Tried 5 more times throughout the day with the same results.
The following day, I sent another email stating that I was beginning to get a little concerned about not receiving any response to either my emails or phone calls and requested that he please contact me so that we could figure out what happened to my order. Mind you that each of my emails up to this point had been very polite and simply requested that he furnish me with a tracking number. You guessed it, still no response.
I have now emailed him a total of 12 times and attempted to reach him by phone 15 times leaving voicemails on 5 of the calls. I have not received a response to any of my efforts.
Finally, last friday, the 27th I did my homework. I looked up Savson Swords and Knives on the BBB website and found that he has received a total of 13 complaints since 2006. Only one was reported as being resolved. I also found the Ohio Attorney General's website and intend to file a complaint with them. I also intend to initiate an effort to recover my payment through my credit card company.
I sent a final email to Savson that same friday, again requesting that they extend to me the simple courtesy of providing me with a tracking number. I also advised them that if I didn't receive a response from them by the end of the business day on monday, June 30, that I would initiate proceedings with my credit card company to recover my payment. I would also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and that I would file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office urging that their business license be suspended.
So far, you guessed it, no response.
If you are planning to do business with this company, I wish you the best of luck. Personally, I wish that I had never heard of them.
