Beware PVK.com

I will say that I have never doubted Josh's honesty. It his lack of communication, and often posted about here, extended delivery times that are a concern to me. Even in this case, where the card was turned down, there should have been communcation from Josh to let the customer know that. You don't just leave someone hanging, not knowing why the knives do not arrive.

No doubt about it, Josh is very honest and would never screw up an order to pocket money he's not entitled to.

I will continue to do business with PVK because I like Josh and I appreciate his integrity but he does need to figure out how to handle the communications aspect of his business while he is tied up all day packaging and shipping!!!

I agree completely! I've ordered from Josh numerous times and have never had to wait for my order because the knife was "backordered" or had to be "drop shipped". I haven't ordered from Josh recently but in the past he would include some "freebies" with each of my orders which I thought were a nice touch. I for one would order from Josh again without hesitation. Even if it took a few extra days to get my knife I would never be concerned about being scammed when ordering from PVK.

ANOTHER PVK. /Josh fan here and would order happily again! I think Josh mentioned he did try and contact the party about said credit card issue, but do to users Net provider could not reach him. Heck a refund of ther $20 is fair though IMHO if knife didnt ship regardless of reason.

Loandr.

According to Josh's post the purchaser's credit card was declined. If that is the case then he hasn't been charged anything for shipping.

You know you can't call people by the way - most of the charge cards that get refused are stolen cards and then I have made the mistake many times of calling the number on someone's order and getting THE WIFE or THE BOSS and then what? Everyone who orders knives is a sneaky spy doing something they don't want other people to know about - you call someone's home or place of work and run a good chance of messing that guy up.

What kind of guy buys a $100 knife anyhow? This is not some loser had no life anyhow - that's a doctor you don't call him. Or any other professional possibly federally employed. These people get up the nerve to share the info and make the purchase = miracle #1.

There are rules now for email you look at this - one yellow and you miss a lot commercial systems

http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=bladeforums.com

Or AOL - you piss them off once and it's over forever on your whole NODE wherever your server is. THey'll run your emails but only if you pay $.01 per.

Josh, you may want to look into getting a different internet provider than AOL. Do they block commercial emails from any email account or just their own? Is it not possible to set up an email account with Yahoo or Google and not have the emails blocked?

By the way you guys should look at this - you're toasted on email reply sign ups - one yellow in here
and you're in trouble - a red and it's a big problem. There are many rules now for email - you just changed
your model to get everyone to sign up which is a great idea but let me tell you it's going to be pretty quiet
in here in a few years if you don't hammer out this DNS for your email.

OK here's plain-ish english on what I just said.

I send email to you - you get email and read it. That's what you think happens.

What really happens - I send email to you, it goes to my server, your ISP gets email and screens it 7 ways to sunday. It handshakes my outgoing server two dozen ways to verify it's legitimacy before it passes into your email account. Your ISP kind of uses uses secret handshakes on my machine special ones that can't be faked by anyone. It also runs my domain name, the name servers it runs on and it's IP address through 40 different black hole lists maintained daily by places all over the world.

Domain names like www.pvk.com are really just vanity names for IP addresses - everything has an IP address even your computer right now that you look at this site with. That's the info the government was asking google for last week - IP addresses of searchers.

Anyhow I got a new server computer a couple months back to put my sites on. Low and behold the server IP address is blocked by AOL. This is a new out of the box machine at $999 a month. I assume it's a crisphy new IP addy too assigned by ARIN (the mafia that controls IP address allocations) and AOL has it blocked from the get go.

AOL is not my ISP - I am my ISP. Or verio is but they're just the place I plug my server in.

its funny when I talk to people who can barely wing it on their own computers - I think to myself hey I know what that feels like I can barely wing it myself and then I got to pay some hippie $250/hr to fix something I gave 12 hours before I gave up.

also - a year ago the handshakes didn't matter. Now all ISPs are supposed to be RFCP compliant so they're really putting the screws in for the places that know the handshakes. AOL might have given up on letting new IP addresses send it mail. A good idea too - spammers constantly get new ISPs and new machines. This way too they can make more $$$ of the charge for email plan because all new business will have to pay for it.

That Rob Kiyosaki guy had a good quote "Fortunes are made when rules change"

AOL is blocking email from a lot of legitimate dealers -- it's not just PVK. If you are an AOL user give them heck about it! Or better yet stop being an AOL user....

Good point keith, missed that, gettin old :-) Josh keep up the GOOD work sir.

Again it's the IP address of the server not pvk specifically any site on that machine can't send in email to AOL.

And you can't simply say stop using AOL. SBCGLOBAL, VERIZON, and MSN run most of the same protocals as does earthlink and if it's still alive so does compuserve. Comcast will soon. As for AOL 25 million people use it. That number will continue to grow as more people come on line and get attached to their @aol.com email. AOL also has excellent controls for kids and great spam & viral protection.

If the charge for email model works everyone will follow - chances are it will...

Just spoke with my credit card company the other day...if Josh says it was declined he is a liar. I have a statement in front of me that my credit card faxed me and it clearly shows he collected the charge the monday following my order. I have since disputed the charge. Guess he is just trying to salvage his reputation. Also, he never contacted me...I left him seven voice mails with my cell phone number so the email excuse does not hold water. When you place the order it even collects your email address as well as your home phone number. Plus, i use this same card for all my purchases from The BladeShop.com and Savsonswordsandknives.com and they have never had a problem contacting me or processing an order. bad enough to do this type of thing (and I am not the only one that has had this problem with PVK.com) but it is another to falsify information to try and make yourself not look as bad.

so your card HAS been billed afterall and was NEVER declined in the first place? Interested to hear Josh's response? Hoping just a miscommunication still?
Loandr.
