I was desperately hoping that it was going to be around the $70 range as was told. But $99.95! What's the story, Mike and Spark?

(I did order one, however. Sigh. A confirmed arachnophilia cannot turn down the Native with "440V blade, Blue G10 handles, and a blue clip.")

Well, we always want the good price, but this does have the upgraded steel (AND blue clip)& blue G10 so I guess if ya want special, ya gotta pay a little more. I tried to confirm my order but the link does not seem to work for me. I'll keep trying for awhile, it's probably you other guys here, trying to cut in line !!

We just go the prices today from Spyderco. Our original estimates were between $85 and $100. We keep the price below $100 even though it should be $130.

Like Brian said, this knife not only has G10 (WAAAAAYYYY more expensive than injection molded Zytel), and a blue clip, but it also has a steel upgrade and engraving on it to boot!

Each one of those things adds to the cost. This isn't a standard Native, retailing for $50. This is a seriously upgraded, limited edition one.

BTW, we are not releasing the URL yet for the BladeForums.com Native Orderform, as we want to give the first chances to those who reserved their knives in advance. After they have had a suitable time period to place their orders, we will let everyone else know where the URL is to order these knives.

We will not charge credit cards until May for these orders. The first batch of Natives are suppossed to ship in the first week of June, and the second batch will ship towards the end of June.

Hey Spark, for those of us who reserved our knifes in advance, when will you contact us? I haven't heard anything yet.

Thanks.

I sent out a message to 240 or so people earlier today, but I guess I missed a few. I'll send another one in a few minutes.

Spark,

Me too! I haven't heard anything yet and had sent traffic and posted my desire for the serialized Native earlier. Talk then had been serial numbers that reflected our joining here. After you and Mike, I was the first to post (DC got first thread though), so I figured S/N 3 would be mine. Now I don't even get a notification? I'd be hurt if I didn't recognize the administrative burden this evolution presents. PLEASE get back to me, okay!?

I was also hoping to get the serial # that coincides with my member #....Spark please see what you can do. I realize that the drawings use our member # but I'd take ineligability just to get my matching #'s.

Hey Spark,
I just placed my order for the BF-Native and I can't wait for it to ship out. Will we get any order confirmation before the sale goes public? I know you're busy but I was so darn excited when I was filling out the form I just wanted to make sure I did everything right.
thanks

Spark,

Oops. Sorry about the URL fiasco.

We'd love to see the picture of this beauty, especially of the engraving. Could you post one?

Spark, you got thru to me and I've followed the directions, thanks.
PS it came thru to my email several times, you can take me off notify list now.

Ok, I just resent a message to all 250+ people who emailed us their reservation. If you aren't on the list, I'm sorry. Bob, you were there, so I must not have you on my work list, probably because I delete mail addressed to me off the server when I'm at home.

Anyhow, if you got multiple notices, I apologize. If you didn't get a notice, I apologize. If you ordered, thank you.

I cannot promise matching serial numbers. I'm sorry, it's just a nightmare for me to try to match up 500 knives with individual orders, especially when they aren't all coming in at once.

We don't have pictures yet, but we'll forward them to you as soon as we have them. Danelle says the knife looks purty, so I'll take her at her word.

Thanks again for your support!

are these knives made in the US? and when you say they will be shipped in the first week of June does that mean they wiil be shipped directly to our mailing addresses or to the people of bladeforums then redistributed to the readers?

Darn, I wanted to order 2.

After getting over the sticker shock, I put my order in for 1. Sigh, life on a budget. Man, sometimes it's tough being a knife nut of a budget.

I know it's going to be a great knife! If there's any left later, and I can see my way clear I may order that 2nd one.

$100.00 for a limited Bladeforums Spyderco piece of which here will ONLY be 500 of in the whole world seems a reasonable price. At least to me. Now if I can get the money together I'll be good to go. I would have to be changeing jobs right now.

I agree that $100 is a resonable price for the limited edition however I had budgeted for between $40 & $70 which was the pricing mentioned in one of the earlier posts by Sal.

The lower price was on a Zytel handled version and in the survey you guys did not want it so we went with blue G-10. They will be awesome though. We won't have a pick for a while as these have never been made before. Maybe Spyderco can shoot us one out a litle sooner.

Boy, I had a bit of sticker shock too when I read the email. It's a lot for a knife I probably won't carry much. But then I thought about the amount of time I spend here and $100 doesn't seem so bad.
