The knives will be shipped to us, and then redistributed out to the forumites. Having Spyderco do it would be a big paperwork nightmare, especially when we're doing the billing and the ordering.

I, too, suffered sticker shock. I had budgeted $60 or so when I ordered the Military I just received. Now that it is $100, I simply cannot afford it. However, looking at the content, I can see the higher cost. I mean, in some ways, it is a small, customized Military.
I agree comletely that this is a very reasonable price. I had just budgeted based on earlier figures mentioned. No question the upgrade makes the just under $100 price a very reasonable price. I may have to go thru wife debate country to get that second one.
It's worth a shot, but if it doesn't work I will at least have one of these neat knives!
Spark, I guess I'll be speaking for the rest of the international forumites here who have reserved for the Native.
In the order form, I was given a choice of Int'l shipping for a certain amount. I assume that it's Global Priority, right? Would it be possible to have the knife shipped via Express Mail Service instead? It's only a bit more expensive than Global Priority, but a whole lot safer. I don't want to end up waiting for the once in a lifetime knife only to end up finding out that it got lost in the mail. With the EMS system of USPS, it gets to us a LOT faster, and is close to 100% safer, too. I'm willing to pay the extra, as long as it's not Global Priority.. lost a lot of packages already, and this limited edition Native is very precious to me that I would even consider FedEx or UPS Global if necessary.
But if you can use EMS, so much the better. Do let us know if this is possible. Thanks!
I'm not familiar with the EMS service, but we will look into it. If you want this service, please specify it on the orderform (in the If out of stock section), and we'll see what we can do.

If you check http://ircalc.usps.gov , you'll see that there are choices for international deliveries. There's registered mail, Global Priority mail insured, and then there's Express Mail System - On Demand. This is the latest USPS service that's trackable (at least within the States).
There's only one problem, Spark. How can I post it on the "If out of stock" section? I have already placed my order. Should I redo it all over again?
Higher than I thought too, but the upgrades and somewhat limited nature make it worth it. It will be harder to carry now, but i'm sure I will get over it!
I agree with you, Paul, on the carrying. Part of my disappointment in the price was that very thing. But, I DID order one, and will carry it at least part of the time, I'm sure. Trouble is, if I like the steel as much as I expect, then I will probably have to lay out for yet another one when they start producing the regular Native with CPM440V
Back to the shipping charge.I'm going with the $5.00 charge, the cheapest one they had, since I'm already paying for a $100.00 knife. Is this method of shipping safe?

First Spark, thanks! Got the URL and placed my order. If I were in Jacksonville, I'd help you as the serial number business REALLY added to the inticement of getting this model. You and Mike were claiming S/Ns #1 and 2. Rules of engagement in the original thread put me at S/N 3. Would r-e-a-l-l-y like that low S/N!!!
Second, to all that are decrying a $30 difference between the anticipated and actual costs.... Gee folks, when you consider what we're getting including CPM440V and G-10, I don't know how you can complain. If the price had doubled sure, but we're only talking about the equivilent of 2 tank loads of gasoline in your car

I think the price is very reasonable for a limited edition with 440V an BLUE scales! I already officially placed my order on April 21 and can't wait to get it! THANKS, Sal, Spark and Mike !!!!!!!
Count me in on my early order too!
I will be replying to the e-mail notice as well just to make sure!
I agree this price is ok and the education was worth the difference but do me one favor -- I've also order the BF Sifu which will be coming down the road -- please, no more price surprises. The Sifu price is just about at my top end.

Okay Spark, will send you email now.. And will send another one before shipping starts. Let me know when, so that I can send another reminder.. heheheh.
As to serial number, I'll leave that for you guys to decide. Anything is okay with me. I don't think you deserve the extra workload and headaches of sorting it out by number, per customer.
For those of us who are interested but somehow are not in the loop, how do we get to know about the pre-ordering of BladeForums custom knives? Also, I probably missed this part, but will the sale of these knives help BladeForums cover its' expenses of exhisting? I'm a newbie to BladeForums but a big fan and if purchasing this BFNative will help BladeForums to keep being out there, I'm all for it!
We're giving the advance reservation people one more day, and then we'll be turning on the link to the ordering page for everyone else to order a knife. We still have plenty left, so don't worry too much about not getting one.
