BF Special Edition Skyline

I stole this idea directly from this thread.

what do you guys think about a bladeforum custom skyline?
we have them make it with the model 1760BF for blade forum...they sell them to us without any box/packaging to save some time and $$ and we get them made up with some jimping and maybe a different steel.

So the idea is that it would take probably 500 to 600 commits. I thought I remembered a # from a TNP video, but he didn't mention it in the one I was looking at. I don't think you can vote in multiple polls. So if you want more than one, please leave a comment with how many you would buy.

This thread can eventually evolve into what steel, color, etc. For starters, I am wondering what the real interest is in something like this.

Yea. I would just venture a guess anything like this would take a good bit of time to materialize. Never been apart of anything like this.

I put down definitely but now that I'm thinking about it, if the special edition is anything like the carbon fiber Blurs (triple the price for cosmetic only differences) I might second guess myself.

Keep it under $100 with at least 154cm or better, colored G10 and hopefully a deep pocket clip and I think 600 would be an easy goal. Sell them through kershawguy.

I'm in! The skyline is one of the best folders for the money IMO, and a BF exclusive edition would be icing on the cake!

My vote is for 154cm, jimping on the spine, and colored G10 scales.., maybe black and tan or some over combo color

I'd be on board for something like this even if uses 14C28N like the regular Skyline, but I'd be especially excited if it used a different/upgraded steel.

I like the suggestion, in post #15, to use 154CM: it's a good all-around/EDC steel that's not too expensive and, unlike VG-10, would be easy for Kershaw to obtain for a knife being produced in the USA. (See various discussions in the Spyderco forum about the difficulty of/restrictions on exporting VG-10 from Japan in bar stock. Kershaw could probably swing it, especially given that their parent company is Japanese and they managed it for the ZDP-189 ZT 0350s, but it seems like an unnecessary hassle given that 154CM is very easy to obtain for a USA knife and offers pretty much identical performance to VG-10.)

As for scales, I like the idea of using a G-10 color that would set this apart and make it immediately recognizable as "the BladeForums Skyline from 2012" for people who follow the forum. Jade green or blue would be two nice options, IMHO.

I'd definitely be interested in a bf exclusive skyline. I like the idea of a composite, but even just an upgraded steel would be cool. Something other than black or brown for the scales, wouldn't mind seeing some ghost jade or blue.
