I'm still in for the idea of 2 knives. A BF branded special run and a KG special.

Can we just shut this down and start over?

Yes Really !!! We were discussing, no knives were ordered, you came in like a ruler and took control, do you really think we would put a bladeforum logo on something without asking, come on get serious. I do a lot of business on Bladeforums and I like it here , but right now I am very angry about the way you handled the take over, but hey it is your domain, have fun with it, I will start a new thread. You make whatever knife you want. As far as I am concerned you were out of line.
Dave

Right, and that's the gist of things. If you want to put together 600 pieces of a knife, that's your business. If you want to put together 600 pieces of a knife that's ostensibly a BladeForums Special Edition, that's my business and I need to be consulted.

If you want to pay for 600 pieces of a knife on your own, that's your risk and your reward. But yeah, you guys were discussing making a knife with "BladeForums Blue" handles, possibly with a BladeForums marking on the blade, be it BladeForums.com or 1760BF, in a thread called "BF Special Edition Skyline" - so yes, that needs my involvement, and at the very least my permission. That you don't get this is a fundamental breakdown of your awareness of the situation.

You all should be embarrassed that you didn't think to ask me if this was ok prior to doing things.

Dave, I don't care how angry you are, you don't have the right to make money off BladeForums.com labeled items without my consulting me.

I'm just talking about how some of you guys are addressing our leader (Not you, KG).

Not the (NOW) imaginary knife.

Most leaders don't need to be addressed until there is a leadership decision to be made, and in this case we had moved away from that, in my mind it wasn't going to have any bladeforum ID on it, at least for me it would not make sense because it would totally limit my market.

It is not a no brainer. We were talking , that is all we were doing, it was brainstorming, no orders were made, and none will be.

+ 1. I thought we were in the process of designing the knife. If it had ended up with the BF logo or other BF designation then I'm certain Spark would have been contacted and ask if it was doable. If it ended up without any reference to BF then there would have been no need to concern Spark with this whole mess. That's mho anyway.

This thread has said "BF SE" in the title since day one.
Obviously a gross misunderstanding...

It is quite obvious you don't care how angry someone gets. I am not stupid enough to use someones logo or would I want to, I never had any intention of doing so, I made that very clear.

This is what I was getting at. I think it really moved away from that as soon as Thomas said we needed to hook up with a dealer. It was pretty clear at that point that a dealer wasn't going to want to use the bladeforums name or logo for the knife.

I personally think once KershawGuy got involved as an official dealer, it effectively became a KG special edition Skyline and no longer a BF knife, just maybe designed by a committee of BF members.

Exactly !

Dave,

I really hope this situation has not put you off the notion of creating your own Skyline!

That is what I thought as well.

I don't necessarily think you are acting out of line but I have been following this thread since it got started. I think what originally started as a bladeforums.com special edition knife quickly turned into special edition skyline designed by bladeforums.com members.

The original MSpaint with the logo on it was met with trepidation and even kershawguy mentioned in your quote that the logo was not something he was really interested in doing so it would appeal to more than just members.

I personally would love to see everyone be happy and two special edition knives come out of this thread!

I second that opinion. Obviously there have been discussions of a knife bearing the blade forums logo. Kershawguy has also been looking into a special edition skyline for a while and has voiced his reservations in regards to placing a bladeforums logo on the knife as suggested by other members.

Obviously if the knife is going to have a reference to bladeforums on it the owner of the site should be receiving the royalties.

The win/win is to do two special edition knives a "kershawguy/mafia" edition and a bladeforums edition.

I think you should work it out with Spark and make a friggin' BF SE Kershaw knife.
It would be infinitely cool for the membership.

I wasn't involved from day one and would not have been if there was going to be a logo. Since my involvement it was not going to have any bladeforum logo that I was going to do, I am not a stealer or a user, that is part of the reason I am offended.

Exactly, just a misunderstanding.

If you asked anyone who was following this thread since the beginning, I think most if not all would agree that it has really moved away from being a BF specific knife to being a knife designed/collaborated with bf members.

Don't be offended Dave, I know why Spark is upset I think it might just be a little misplaced. I think maybe it came at a bad time. Had it been earlier on before you were involved when there was still much discussion over the logo and the name and such, then it would have been more understandable.

Now, get back to work. You have to pack my OD Green Tanto Zing so you can ship it out when paypal goes through on Monday!

My apologies to all who got to see me upset, I don't usually respond when I get offended, or at least that badly. If I had thought there was a reason to check with spark, I would have, in my mind we had moved away from all Bladeforum logo or wording, therefore no reason to check, we weren't using anyones trademarks, as for color , well I don't think anyone has legal rights to colors, unless perhaps it were a color scheme. Sorry for my part in this. I will start a new thread for a special Kershawguy skyline, maybe a 1760KG after I return from screaming at the sky.

Dave

I think you should hold off on starting the new thread until you get the pricing details so you can start the thread with a poll.

as long as i can get a special edition skyline to make people drool over 10 years from now im up for whatever

Wow. What started as a great concept turned into a mess. For my part I did not think it through. I was just trying to find out what the level of commitment was to something like this.

I apologize for my part in this.
