I hope there is very little interest in any Horn, let's please take it easy on Mike who is volunteering his time. You know how gentleman agreements go, he will still get a ton of guys trying to return the knives. I'd say horn is out.

I really like Camel Bone, but the price of the knife is already going to exceed the set price limit and Camel Bone is going to send it even higher, possibly pricing people out of a knife. I'd say not to Horn too.

That leaves Wood options. I guess I'll have to go look at the different woods to make a clear choice. I love Ebony, but last year's knife was Ebony and that might be getting a little monotonous.
Last year's knife was African blackwood.

I'm ok with any of the woods, with ebony being last... even though I LOVE ebony. I want something a little different, with some "character". The burls would be very nice, as would the others.
I personally like the two knives I have with horn, but I don't want Mike to have to put up with un-necessary foolishness.
I personally do not care for ram horn much at all.
The giraffe bone would be beautiful, I'm sure, but I don't want to jack up the price much beyond what Mike has already stated.

Too bad we couldn't get some more of Mike's mesquite shipped over there....THAT would be an original Forum knife...:D

I only have one knife in ram’s horn and I would really like this one to be my second. So I vote ram’s horn.

I'm sticking to my guns - my first choice is Rams Horn since it is confirmed as an option. I've had several examples of it and not only does the variety make it interesting but it is an extraordinary material in terms of durability and texture.

Members coveting their neighbor's knife is not going to change by choosing a wood other than Ebony or maybe Olive.

Mike can set the rules - he doesn't have to deal with any headaches. I'd say a No Returns policy, barring any factory defects, should be an expected rule of thumb.

From a “looks” standpoint only
The giraffe bone looked pretty good
So did all the woods
But bone does stand up beyond any wood
But wood is so “warm” to the eyes, warm in hand
But legally harvested giraffe bone is as unique a forum knife there ever was
“In” regardless
Even horn

I'm not sure I'd want to spend that much money on a knife with a "no return" policy.

I think it important to make the distinction between returning a knife for factory defects and returning a knife because one didn't receive an example as aesthetically pleasing as their neighbor's.

 I wouldn't spend $20 on a knife with a "no return" policy. But, on the other hand, if horn was chosen once a disclaimer was noted that returns couldn't be accepted due to this exact component; it is a bit less restrictive than the above quote sounds. But I understand what you are saying and we could flesh that out once the time comes.

Ziricote can look amazing, but I suspect it darkens quite a bit with handling. And from the wood shops I've been too / looked at, it is quite a pricey wood. Would be surprised if it was in the same ballpark as many of the others.

Baw-ha , Swayback Wharncliff blade won ! Sounds like a winner to me. European Walnut is better than American Walnut. Italian gun makers put cheesy red glossy finish to hide the true beauty of the European Walnut wood. European Walnut "no stain" with a satin clear or gross clear finish would be superb. Natural European Walnut with a clear finish will make most of yall very happy. European Walnut is not endangered and it is easy to pass through European customs also.

Yeah, I still vote for either of the horn options. Thanks again Mike for putting this all together.

Wait till you hear about the no-flip policy. We come to your house unannounced to make sure you've still got it.
I know THAT's not true.

Yes, I agree with that.
I was speaking more in terms of why would we want to put Mike on the spot just for a horn knife.

But I understand what you are saying and we could flesh that out once the time comes.
No worries, Mike.
We all appreciate what you are doing.
