BG ASH-1 Meets Wicked Edge

Apparently not. I believe there is a thread about pushing infi to its limits and beyond... Talks about taking a battle Mistress down to some angle or another.... It performs marvelously.

When he says 12 degrees I an guessing he means per side 24 degree inclusive? If so I think that is to thin for about anything other than a kitchen knife.I have a couple spydercos that I sharpen to a 30 degree, very thin laser sharp edge on them that I would expect to chip some on rough cutting. Hard to tell what angles people are talking about. Could mean each side or total. The 204 sets to 30 degrees or 40 degrees transfer that to the wicked edge settings and it would be 15 degrees and 20 degrees.

I believe it was equated to a Mora at the edge... is my understanding. That's what makes infi so wonderful in my book

The Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition should serve you well once you get the hang of it --- also the sharp maker with diamond rod add on would work well in the mean time too.

I'm a bit old school, I reprofile with the WE, but lite touch ups are accomplished on 5000 grit SC sand paper. most edges end up being convexed over time at about 20 degrees (x2). Yes, Rob is right, reprofiling takes a lot of time and patience. I usually take two to three days to finish after walking away several times (sometimes to bandage fingers!).

I just read through the link. It sounded like at the end that Cliff was thinking he would take the edge UP to 25 degrees included (12.5 per side). That's still VERY THIN! and he was CHOPPING at 8.5 per side?! Did I read that correctly?! The 12 degrees of Gaston above doesn't seem so stupid now… unless that is inclusive (6 degrees per side). That would be pretty… um… yeah.

So if I understand well: 12 degrees is stupid when all you have is INFI. Good to know.

I'll just have to avoid all these Busse chopping videos where a 28 ounces blade goes pat-pat-pat:o... With a noodle-handled 17 ounces Trailmaster surging ahead... Impressive stuff...

Gaston

Gaston, no experienced knifemaker and knife user in this forum actually believes any of the lies you have posted since you have joined. You are just ignored. It really is to bad because I am a fan of Randall knives, and it is sad that someone with your classless personality has to be one of their rare representatives.

From what I gathered, it was a 8.5 per side, with no micro bevel before he added an 11per side, 1 mm high microbevel. This fixed his problem...... WOW.

Looks like my original steel heart will be getting a nice 10 DPs grind with a microbevel.

I do sometimes wish that there was an option that could be activated so when certain individuals posted their post could just show up on my screen as the "Spanker" emoji thing....
