BG42 vs S30V, S35VN

It just seems to me that you're calling into question how much input Chris Reeve actually had. Regardless of how much or how little, it doesn't change the fact that he WAS involved in the development of S30V.

Maybe someone should give Chris Reeve a call and get this thing straightened out, I'd rather not talk to him myself. I've heard the stories! :D

LOL me neither. He called me early one morning and gave me a tongue lashing. And he smirks threateningly at me when we talk at blade show.

He's a unique dude. Haha

Yeah, and you still haven't gotten over being talked to like a man. Geez, grow up and just let it go man.

let the man say what he wants. hes not hurting your "god" Chris Reeve :)

as for the facts, if someone makes something, and someone tries it out and says what they like and dislike; That doesn't mean that the second person developed the original item or had a huge influence on it.

Chris was a leader in the knife world 10 years ago, and now with all the other makers and new steels, Chris is lost in the past (performance wise) with his competitors.

IMO he needs to step up and either heat treat his steels better or use something else.

Ive said it before and ill say it again: Chris was the first to come up with the RIL, but he is definitely not the best at using it to its full potential.

just my .02 (not like the fan boys care) :D

He's not my God. I have far more of a few other brands than I do CRK. The man can say what he wants, but it is getting old, just like your talk around here did.

"Some don't know as much as they think they do." Seems fitting here.

Me and Chris actually have some good conversation at blade, 2 years in a row. I like Chris, but I don't believe or agree with everything he does. I can separate my liking for him and my love for his knives with reality. Can you?

agreed, Ive heard that if you talk to Chris on his good days hes actually a pretty nice guy. Too bad Ive only seen him on his bad days :D

I like his knives, but I don't like a lot of other things about the man.

unfortunately the cons out way the pros for ME personally.

Yes, but don't believe for a second you can, or have, and wolf just admitted he can't.

Enough of this. No one comes here to see this.

Ken, I know you can't stand the fact that I have opposed Chris on some things, but you need to face reality. Look at my post history. Concerning CRK the percentage of my posts that are disparaging is tiny, I'd say 15 or less. The other 85 is nothing but praise.

Your theory that I have some sort of personal problem with him is demonstrably false. :)

The point I'm trying to make is that Chris Reeve, as I understand it, was there from the beginning. Crucible did not create S30V themselves and then hand it over to Chris and say "What do you think?". The "chemistry" of S30V was put together based on input from Chris Reeve and other knifemakers.

I'm not saying that the other knifemakers don't deserve credit, but for someone to say that "Chris Reeve was not part of the development of S30V" is just not true.

huh? No I just choose not to buy his knives. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate the knives for what they are.

Chris used to get to me with his childish ways, but now I realize hes like one of the those yip yap dogs. They make a he" of a lot of fuss but they never actually bite :) and when challenge they have nothing to back up the bark.

Like CTS said, many people caught Chris in a lie and he ran like a dog with his tail between his legs.

you choose to support whoever you want but I don't support people I don't respect. Simple as that.

Geez how did we get to this point? sorry op for getting off track.

I can agree with that, but like I said its not as great of an influence as people have made it out to be over the past years.

I keep trying to find the "popcorn" icon...

I can understand why Chris gets angry at a bunch of the members here. Put yourself in his shoes, if you ran a successful business for this long, and people with 10 or less yrs "experience" with knives shouted from the hill tops that what you're doing is wrong or sucks, you'd be outraged!
I know in my profession, I take offence immediately when someone new comes along and questions what or how we do things. I make it known that they don't know what the hell they're talking about! And I'm usually an A-hole about it too:D

The idea that newbies or people with less experience than you absolutely cannot be right serves no other purpose than to stifle innovation.

Doctors fresh out of med school are more sought after than doctors with 30 year practices. Know why? It's because the skills and techniques the new docs are learning in school are more valuable than the 30 years experience the older docs have.

Just because you're an old dog, doesn't mean you know all the tricks. ;)

your right! who needs innovation? we should've stopped at sticks and stones, they worked well enough right? ;)

Edit: CTS you beat me to it :)

Yeah, I agree, def true.

BUT

Humans will always react this way...ALWAYS, so it really never gets anywhere. There are some designs on CRK's that I absolutely hate, but I find i just get over it, or move to something else....*cough cough* umnum over travel disc DESIGN**cough:barf:
