BGFSH 5/16" pics and comparison pic heavy

Sorry for poor lighting. I am traveling, and these are from home where son took pics. Here is black canvas on left and 2 maroon... Center and right.

Thanks for the pics Brian! I like the earlier maroon better than the darker maroon like on the TGP and on my WTF. The new maroon is pretty dark. On this pic the middle one looks more maroon than the one on the right. Seeing them next to the black canvas you can tell the difference but dang they're dark. I still like the looks though.

Well, from what I can see, I would prefer the maroon of my TG-P as well. But I want my BGFSH!

Much like tan canvas there can be a variance thoughout the maroon material. Some lighter some darker. Varies even within the same sheet. Canvas micarta is like a box of chocolates, you never know whats inside.

That's what I was thinking. Thank you

Here is a better pic of color variations

The maroon-ish-ness of the scales on the BGFSH is so subtle, it is extremely difficult to see it as maroon. But in that light you can tell it isn't exactly black micarta. I kinda like it in that light.

I certainly won't complain at all about either color on my BGFSH, now. Bummer, though. Delivery of mine got delayed 'til Monday. :(

Delays in! :( I had a new knife delayed today too, actually 2 times. Was supposed to be here yesterday or today, now Monday lol.

FSH BG 5/16" showed up today. It looks great. As stated by others it has a very dark color almost brown like maroon handle. It's a beast. I posted an UNBOXING video. Not the greatest quality but will give an idea of color.

Thanks for the vid. I don't normally seek out unboxing videos, but I haven't had a care package from Wauseon in a while so it helped lol. Nice to see it in hand too.

I hadn't noticed (ok, just wasn't paying attention) that the BGFSH's are saber ground.

Would one of you hogs with one in hand mind checking and listing the balance point ?

I had a FSH, FFG, at one time and passed it on because it was too balanced a bit far back to the handle for my tastes. The saber grind may get me to take another look at it.

The balance point on mine is right in line with the scale edge and talon hole. Maybe a slight bit in front of it but not much.

Mine is as Pykrim stated as well. If I place a carpenter pencil on a bench top and place knife blade with scales against the pencil, this is nearly the balance point. I need to figure out how to post pics.

Well, took me a couple years, but I finally pulled the trigger on one of these. What an absolute monster of a "mid-sized" blade!!

Just a blast to use in the limited amount of time I swung it around and beat on it today. It hits HARD!! Really surprised by how good the handle feels to me. With the extra stock thickness the Fusion scales really fill the hand, feels even better than the grip on my BG FBM.:thumbsup:

May not be carried further than my garage or back yard much, but I have plenty of other options for when weight is a concern. This should be a great user. Plan to give her the full etch, strip, and edge tuning treatment as soon as I can find time for the mods.
