BHQ Excl. Lum Tanto?

Snagged one this morning. Not sure if it's my thing, but heck, I figure I can carry it a few days and flip it for what I paid if I don't like it.

I wonder if the higher price was due to a lower number of units made?

Had a conference call and missed them. Came back available a few minutes later, added to cart, went to check out but gone. Oh well, No doubt some other knife will peak my interest soon. Congrats to y'all who scored!

Rit dye is your pal.
yeah.....naw i can live with natural.

anyone looked at some of those ebay prices of flipped already....crazy. sure hope no one buys them. let the flippers suffer....and have to lower the prices to reality or the horror use the knife instead of gettin' big profits.:)

I was fortunate to snag one yesterday morning. Very excited to see how the blade looks and handles in person. Looking at Ebay, I see one completed listing for the new jade hap40 Lum's. It was for 278$, so I guess this is your starting price point for the scalping on Ebay. I doubt many will sell until they are actually in hand. Really surprised to see so many listings up before the blades even arrive.

Not to support skyrocketed flipping but my friend is an eBay seller and says they take 12% if the knife initially cost 220 and you paid 7 for priority shipping, that’s only about a $19 profit for the seller, not including shipping cost to the buyer. Not really “flipping”, now the one on the bay for $400 is an entirely different story.

My HAP40 Delica takes on more of a patina than M4 and is a bit easier to sharpen.
Just looking to see if you thought Hap40 is in the same league as M4? I've heard it patinas quicker/differently but was wondering if it kept the razor sharp edge for a long time like M4? Would you say they're comparable? I really like M4 but have no hap40 blades so just looking for info

I can get either HAP40 or M4 razor sharp with a Sharpmaker and the rods it comes with. No problems for either but the HAP40 is "easier". Other folks on here can take the HAP40 to hairsplitting. It's a really nice steel and I struggled not to buy the Meerkat and Caly versions.

Having it on a tanto type blade where the cladding will mimic a hamon will be the icing on the cake.

Couple of quick pics, I'll let someone else get artsy. Anyways, I'm impressed!, way lighter and thinner then I was expecting. I was on the fence about keeping it when I ordered, but man this is a beauty, guess it stays.

Looks like teflon washers for the person that was asking above...

^ very nice. Glad that it looks and shows larger than PM2 but that's just me! I expect that more photos will be posted in here tomorrow and the tracking number which I have received estimates my own Spydie-Lum's delivery scheduled for this Friday

Damn, 1st time BHQ sent my package sig. required. I was expecting to have this one waiting for me when I got home.

Oh well, the suspense continues.

I've had mine for a few hours. Incredible shipping time, thanks BladeHQ.
This is the first Lum tanto I've ever handled. It is slim and beefy at the same time.
Out of the box the centering was pretty bad, and the body screws were all quite loose. I heard a jingling sound when I handled it, so I tightened the screws. The sound turned out to be the loose fitting laynard tube (still jingles).
This is the best centering I can get, with the pivot tightened to 105% and the stop pin near falling out loose:rolleyes:.
Ah well.

Hard to capture, but the blade is mighty close to one liner.
