BHQ Native 5 M4 Natural G10

I’ll be in for this, was looking at a Maxamet native LW, I think all things considered M4 is the way to go, and cheaper too oddly enough.

I believe maxamet will always be more expensive since they have to grind it after heat treat and at 67-68 RHC that's a lot of tool wear

I think the jade scales look great. One of my favorite colors.

I also love the light weight natives, but plastic handles are my least favorite part. I found the natives with liners to be too heavy for their size.
Linerless with a better material than plastic like G-10 or the CF might just be the ticket.

A knife this size I prefer stainless. For those with M4 experience it rusts pretty bad, yea?

Not rusty so far, great patina. I don't live in Florida but it's pretty rain forest here.

Really just winds up looking like an old well used tool.

It definitely can, but also patina depending on conditions.

I had a GB1 that almost instantly developed bright red spotting from RAIN WATER (which is kind of scary to think about, the rain corrodes steel here) but an M4 Manix that I frequently left on the bathroom counter while showering and only developed a light grey/blue hue that barkeepers friend took right off.

It is of note though that the two major brands that produced knives in M4, Spyderco and Benchmade, have differing opinions on it's rust risk. BM will not sell an M4 blade without a coating, period. Spyderco will, but also sells them with DLC.

Any word on release? Would love to get one of these brand spanking new, but my knife funds are depleted for atleast a couple months :P

Am I the only one who’s excited about this knife tomorrow?
There's been plenty of chatter about it in a similar thread over on the Spyderco Forums. I'm not about thrilled about plain G10 but I love the Native platform and M4. I was going to get one but after quite a bit of thought I think I'm gonna pass. I already have several Natives and there are too many other knives on the horizon.

I'm excited for this one! I keep telling myself I don't need any more Natives, but they keep coming out with new & intriguing blade scale combos. I sold a couple of knives a bit ago, so I figure those sales can pay for this new one. That seems sensible. *nods*

Just got it in my hands. My first native 5. Still don't know if I like backlocks.

Looking good! The Native isn’t my favorite model, but I’ve ways liked the overall profile of the design. I might have to try this one out eventually, the combination of materials are hard to resist.

Man that jade G-10 and satin is just an eye catcher! Makes me want one so bad! But I have to tell myself I have the M4 Manix already, can't really justify the Native atm....

Assume this is a lightweight Native? If so, also assume that means I can't easily replace the scales with something like micarta? Unless I want to be stuck with jade color the GB2 or CF PM2 may be a better option.
