Bicycles!

got my stool all put together and so far so good. I'm gona put a crank and pedals on it which can be adjusted between two positions. Don't know how it's gonna work yet, but I pulled out an old bent pair of XTR cranks I hoarded and will mount em up tomorrow and go from there.

so far, it's very light and easy to move around via the bar at the back of the saddle. Might need more cushioning and a nice leather cover

I had a Surly 1x1 about 25 years ago- cromo fork, Xt cantis and 2.5" downhill tyres- bent the fork and ovalized the head tube doing stair gaps in Toronto. Loved riding that bike, think I'll probably put together another single speed in the not too distant future

gotta say, I'm enjoying the hell outta being back in the bike biz!

I was wondering what time frame (year) is that green Surly build in your posted photo from? The late 80's? or early 90's?
Where did you get the frame and all the old vintage parts?

I bought the frame new way back around 2000, and all the parts are from my collection/hoard of stuff from back before it was obsolete. I rarely throw anything away or sell it, it just ends up in a box somewhere til I find a use for it. Believe it or not, all the components except for a few, were on my mountain bike back in the day and were used for actual mountain biking

The brake hanger was a lucky find, I don't know what compelled me to chuck it in a box so many years ago, but I'm glad I did! Maiden voyage will be my ride to work on Friday, (my Tuesday)

I wasn't familiar with the Cross Check model so I did a little looking up and searching... I definitely recognized and recall the Surly brand.
I first thought that the bike might have been an even earlier all steel mountain bike frame from the pre-front suspension days.
