Hey all;
I've been a knife collector for almost four years now, and have a decent little collection going. One of my favorite patterns is the large bowie knife, but I don't have the money for customs yet and they're of depressingly short supply in the production arena.
Does anybody know of any large production bowies (8"+ clip point blade) that I might have missed? This would be a good thread to get a list going.

Cold Steel Laredo Bowie (have the sk-5 version, great knife)
Cold Steel Natchez Bowie
Cold Steel Trail Master
CRK Jereboam (discontinued)
Muela Magnum Alcaraz (from the Seraphim Falls movie - good looking, but I wonder what steel it uses)
Shiva Ki Fightin' Bowie

That's all I can think of. Anybody know any I missed?

Bear, Browning, Marbles, Bark River...some of them may be 7in blades, but there are alot of options out there...

Randall
Model 12-11" Smithsonian Bowie
Model 12-11" Confederate Bowie
Model 12-13" Raymond Thorp Bowie
Busse Battle Mistress
Scrap Yard Dog Father

Here are some specific models that might fit your bill:

Marbles Trailmaker (10 inch blade) MSRP $258.95

Case Bowie (9.5 inch blade) MSRP $209.99

Both of these are available with several different handle materials.

Uberti Bowie (7.1 inch blade) MSRP $219

Man oh man, that 13" Randall Bowie is a sweet knife. I might have to put myself on the waiting list now, since the delivery time is about six years...

Or I could just suck it up and make my own big badass bowie...

Ah...Life's too short.

Of course! CS Recon Scout ( SK-5 is excellent ).

+1 to Hanwei.

Also check out Museum Replicas Limited. They have a large selection of Bowies, many of which are large.

While they are a bit more expensive If you don't want to wait that long you can order from a dealer.

Nordic knives is taking orders for March 2010 delivery.

The Hanweis look nice too; the Paul Chen bowies all have a subdued, classical appearance to them.

Great responses, everybody. I'm glad to know it's not just me with a soft spot for impractically sized steel.

Last time I checked, these big "Sax" from Lutel were reasonably priced. Blades between 11"-14".

How 'bout a "bowie" with 2 feet of blade? Check sword makers for messer, grossmesser, kriegsmesser, falchion, storta, dussak, etc. Here's one example from Albion:
