big folders

dont have any suggestions but had this picture on hand:D

I also like larger folders. Here are my views on some that I have owned.

Spyderco Military: Handle is WAY too big for the blade. But otherwise a well made knife and not uncomfortable, carry is kind of a pain because of the ridiculously huge handle

Spyderco Endura: Very nice knife, light weight, try and find one with a Full Flat grind

Benchmade Skirmish: Very well made knife, but Bag Ergos for me, handle is too wide in the pocket, if you have really long fingers then it might be a more comfortable knife for you.

Benchmade Rukus: Very well made, I didn't like the ergos.

Benchmade Dejavoo(i've owned a few): Awesome knife. Great ergos, carries well in the pocket and is super smooth with perfect lock up.

Kershaw Cyclone: Good inxepensive knife, a little wide but not bad. Speed safe worked well

Kershaw JYDII: really awesome ergo's and good lock up, a well made folder

kershaw G10 Tyrade: Like A JYDII on sterioids! Speed safe works well and the knife has great ergos, it is a littl wide but not as bad as the skirmish.

Benchmade AFCK: Good steel (D2) axis lock is not my favorite, but a lot of people really like them. Lock up is good and the knife is comfortable in hand.

Cold Steel 6" TiLite: Is larger than you specified but is a good sold knife and inexpensive. I only sold it because I never carried it.

Spyderco Police: Nice and thin, carries very well for such a large folder. It is very similar to the endura 4 in my opinion.

Spyderco Pacific Salt: Also very similar to the Endura, but lighter and not as strong, won't rust.

Anyway these are just my opinions, take them with a grain of salt. I still own the AFCK, Tyrade and endura 4. I am looking to buy a Dejavoo, probably another endura and maybe another JYDII. The other knives I can do without, YMMV

I love Spyderco, and I don't think you could go wrong with Military.

But, I love my Rukus, I carry two of them, one right, and one left... THEY ROCK!

I have owned the Skirmish, and it is really cool. And, I think it is being discontinued, so if you like it, this might be the right time.... I am sad I had to sell mine.

+1 on the Spyderco Military.
The bigger handle is actually a bonus. Allows for heavier cutting chores and provides extreme comfort and ergonomics.
I's so slim and well designed, that carrying it in the pocket is very easy and comfortable.
You will not regret. There are bigger folders, but nothing will outcut the Millie.

I've got the Spec Elite I, the Mini Rukus, and used to have the Paramilitary. Since they're all smaller versions of ones you're looking at, I'll throw in my 2 cents.

Of the 3 I know about, I chose the Rukus. I don't like tip down carry, so I don't like the Military for that reason alone. The Spec Elite line is very nice, but the handle material is not as good as the Spyderco & the BM. Of these 3, the Rukus definitely feels more sturdy. It's bulkier and heavier than the Military.

I've also got a ZT301. I think I'd recommend a ZT200 b/f the 301. It's more in line w/ the knives you've referenced in your original post. The ZT200 feels even more sturdy than the Rukus - to me at least.

Rukus - I've only had it for a month or so, but it's already one of my favourite folders. My ZT0300 is another, but if I had to choose, it would be the BM. Fast, smooth, gorgeous slender droppoint (S30V) but built like a tank.
I'm expecting an ER RAO in a week or so. Ask me again by that time. :D

If your requirements are a BIG, QUALITY, FOLDER my first thought is an Emerson Super 8.

There have been quite a few good suggestions, but I think you will be happiest with the Super CQC-8!

As mentioned already, the ZT0300 is a great choice.

The Kershaw Lahar and Spyderco Endura 4 are solid large folders too (Tenacious on top).

The best big folder I have seen has to be the Strider SMF. I'd like to see the Strider XL, an even bigger version of the SMF design.

However, out of that list, I would go with the Military. I really like the blade shape of the Rukus, but my axis locks on two would always loosen if you did anything more than gently ease the blade out. Swinging a 4"+ blade is not a good thing to do. However, the Skirmish, I had no problems. But, out of the ones mentioned in this post, the only I have right now is the Military.

I very much like big folders. Out of the ones I have, my favorites are:

BM Rukus
Spyderco Military
ZT 200
BM Skirmish

You might also consider a Emerson Super CQC8 or Super Commander.

I can heartily recommend the Spyderco Military and the ZT 0300 series.

Some might think that the Military's handle is too large, but it's designed that way on purpose. It's great for those of us with big mitts, and it's easy to use in the cold, in wet environments, and with gloves on. It's super slim, despite its size, which makes it carry really easily (hardly notice it's in your pocket).

The ZT 0300 also really fills the hand, and is easy/reliable to operate in less-than-ideal conditions. It's really built like a tank, too. Definitely pretty close to indestructible.

I second the Cold Steel large Espada. Carries nice for a mega folder.

Military is wonderful, but don't forget the awesome Pohl Force Alpha Two.
HERE is a Tactical Knives magazine review of the near identical Alpha One (which I have and enjoy)
