big folders

Spyderco Military or Endura, I've got both and both are great large folders. I guess you should handle them both before deciding which one suits you best. Another large folder I would recommend, a less expensive one, is the CRKT M21.
Of course, any large Benchmade would also be a great choice.

Also, try and find a Lone Wolf T-2, T-3 for considerization. If you like double action, check out the L.W. D-2.

As well, might wanna look at the Jerry Hossom folders produced by Ontario.

Or wait for the DDR mid-tech.

I agree with the Endura and Military. But this is a very nice big tough knife as well. I bought it a few months ago. It is the Boker Kal 101 and it's very well made full stainless liners and a thick liner lock. You can buy the knife for ~$55 at various places.

This is a translated review from a German site, be sure to click on "Full Version" link and scroll down to see some nice photos.

That's a cool knife, I own it too, huge and rugged, nice glassbreaker on the butt. But this one is better: The Resurrection.

It's a poor man's ZT, more rugged than the Tyrade or JYD. Goodlooking too. By far the best Boker I ever saw, and I'd stack it up against any Spyderco folder. Of course it weighs a bit more... :D
But it's simply an awesome folder for the money. The photo does not do it justice. Just hold it and you will be convinced.

philwar, that is very nice, I've seen it on-line but never clicked "add to cart". Its <$53 in some places what a deal.

You won't be disappointed, unless by its sheer mass and weight. I have a ZT0300, and this Boker does not feel any less tough or rugged. Or heavy. :D

I have the Military and the Police Spydercos.

No doubt in my mind - +1 for the Police. Extremely sharp, very flat "tip-up" carry.

Now "big" can mean a lot of things. Some of the blade mentioned are real tanks.

I suppose it depends on what you feel is comfortable to carry and where on on your body it will be carried.

For pocket carry a Police is my #1 - #2 BM 710 - Military 3rd.

Good luck on your choice! :D

Of your choices I'd go with the ruckus can't go wrong with a benchmade. I've never owned a military but I'm not a big fan of spyderco.

Its my opinion that the CUDA Maxx line is the most elegant of the "mega" folders. Too bad Camillus went under, but you can still find them on e-bay (just don't pay the awful buy-it-now prices).

I carry mine regularly. It carries small for a big knife.

I have both versions of the Cuda Maxx, nice knives.Yes,it is a shame Camillus went under.

I have had both, but I prefer the stiletto. I might just slip this one in my pocket today.

To me the cream of the large folders is the Cuda Maxx, TheLone wolf T3 Ranger, and the Ontario retribution 1 ( ? or is the 2 the big one? I have the big one)

The beefiest is the Retribution. The Ti liners are amazingly huge, wider than some folder blades. It has the largest grip IMO.

Next tier down would be the Skirmish, Rukus, etc. Good knives but not as impressive as the top 3 in my book.

Of all of them the cuda maxx would be the last to get sold. It's a classic. To me, large begins at 4 inches and goes up. There are plenty of heavy duty knives below 4 inches, example the Chinook, old Manix, various ZT's, etc.

I second the Retribution folders. Here is a comparison pic of the 1 and 2.

In my opinionated opinion no folder should be termed"large" unless the blade is at least 4 and 1/4 inches long. That criteria makes my BM Rukus the smallest of my large folders. I also have the 4 1/2 inch Gerber, both styles of the Sog 5" folders, both models of the 6" CS Ti-Lite folders, the 5" CS Vaquero, the 6" CS Vaquero Grande, the 41/2" CS Spartan, the 5" CS tanto Voyaguer, the 51/2" CS Espada and the 6" CS Rajah 1.
I'd like to buy other companies large folders as well but I live in Canada and not all makes are available up here.

Who modded your Retributions' C.M.?

I waved them both on a belt grinder. They are currently with Reese Weiland for new (thinner) scales in Emerson style G10 and L/R tip up pocket clip holes. The small one fits my wife perfectly. When they get finished I think they will make nice EDC's for both of us.
