Big, small, short, or long, which one of your Daggers is your favorite?

I'd sure hate to let these go, because I was quite lucky to get them and because the design is perfect : size, weight, strength and cutting ability... all beautifully balanced :

And Sting 2 :

However, as this one is unique (made after my drawing, by Stoil Manchev), I'd have to cling to this one (good at piercing, good at cutting, light and flattish = very easy to carry !) :

Most people would say that a Dagger is usually considered to be a specific one purpose tool. But, many of us knife enthusiasts like to have a little diversity in our knife collections. A lot of us simply find Daggers to be pretty darned cool 😎
Heck, the coolness factor alone is usually reason enough for us to own at least one Dagger, with many of us actually owning quite a few of them!
Well, for those of you that own Daggers, which is your favorite? Which one would be the last Dagger you'd let go?

Here's my choice,
The Cold Steel Cinquedea...

Ahh! You like um Fat I see. 😁 Nice!

another is the greatest dagger design of all it slices it thrusts it suffers none of the negatives of a dagger and thrusts like a gladius

Rick Marchand

I remember some years ago when you first posted about this one and now it's all I can think of when I see the word "smatchet" used in the wild. Did you ever get around to uploading videos of cutting tests/practice with this? I'm curious to see how well your mini gladius cuts and thrusts.

This is my only dagger.

It’s also the last knife of any kind that I’d ever sell.

My Dad found it on the beach at Fort Point when he was a kid (at least that’s the story) and gave it to me when I was maybe 14.

My wife, although not a superstitious person, won’t touch it.

This one for sure! This thread would be better if it were: "Top Three Daggers" because then we get to share more daggers 😁.
Kershaw used to make some nice daggers, just sold my trooper but it was time to pass it on to the younger generation.
But there’s always another and the one that I sold to a good friend.

Yup. I wish Kershaw would make them again.

Very cool find, and a cool knife in general. And a nice family connection, I don't blame you for wanting to keep it. It looks like it's in very good condition. I can only wonder how it ended up on the beach.

Have you done any research to see if it's an original or a reproduction? Either way, it's still a very sweet find.

This is an absolutely nasty muder weapon. Of course, it's a trench dagger and trench fighting was the nastiest fighting ever, so there's that. I would be all over one of these, although the practical applications are limited (slicing onions, filletting fish.... forget it). It's an epitome of fightiness. A rather perfect design, in all aspects. I can only like it. By the way, there's a funky movie on TouYube (The Devil's Rock 2011) where this knife is prominently featured. It's a horror movie so don't watch it with kids. Or with the wife who doesn't want to touch the trench dagger. This said, I totally understand her : I was given a machete supposedly brought back from Kosovo. I never brought it upon myself to use it. I instinctively hated it and got rid of it on some occasion.

Hmm - no - I’d always assumed it was original just because of how long ago my Dad found it (which would have been mid 1960’s at the latest). We’re reproductions being made then? I can confirm he had it since I was very young because I recall handling it at age 5 or so which would have been 1977.

If anyone has a good reference for this I’d appreciate it. Also would be happy to take/post more pics if folks here can tell from that.

Sorry, I don't know how long they've been producing, or reproducing them. But I'm sure there's a whole world of information about them online.

Have a look over at USMilitaria forum, in the Edged Weapons sub forum.
