Big, small, short, or long, which one of your Daggers is your favorite?

Hmm - no - I’d always assumed it was original just because of how long ago my Dad found it (which would have been mid 1960’s at the latest). We’re reproductions being made then? I can confirm he had it since I was very young because I recall handling it at age 5 or so which would have been 1977.

If anyone has a good reference for this I’d appreciate it. Also would be happy to take/post more pics if folks here can tell from that.
It's such an awesome representation of that knife, to my non professional eyes, it sure does look legit.
If you decide to share pics of it where the pro's about them could give you a possible definitive on whether or not it's the genuine article, please chime back to let us know. If it's a reproduction, it sure is better than anything I have seen. Very cool piece, and the sentimental part of it makes it even more cool! 👍😊👍

By the way, if it turns out that your knife is legit, especially with it being in the condition that it's in, it would be a pretty valuable dagger 👍
Not that you would sell it, but it would be pretty cool to find out that it's worth a pretty penny 😎

This is an absolutely nasty muder weapon. Of course, it's a trench dagger and trench fighting was the nastiest fighting ever, so there's that. ...By the way, there's a funky movie on TouYube (The Devil's Rock 2011) where this knife is prominently featured.
the knuckle duster
u.s. 1918 mk1 trench knife
never fails to make an impression.
its perfect as a ghastly movie prop.
try circa 1976...

A few I've made, followed by a few I own.

That's a cool collection of Rondel Daggers! 👍😊👍

I only have one, a Cold Steel Rondel Dagger. Cold Steel obviously doesn't make any of their own products, contracting their models out to different manufacturers. This one was done by Windlass Steelcrafts if India for them, and they really did a nice job it.

It's correct, and very desirable. Most people polish off the blackened finish that yours has, it's suppose to be there though. There were good good Japanese repros made in the late 1960's - 70's, but they use the AU Lion handle, not the Landers, Frary, and Clark (LFC) stamped one, and everything was left bright. Enjoy it, it's amazing that it's in such good shape.

That’s awesome thanks for letting me know!

It’s got an amazing feel in hand.

Since folks are interested I took some additional pics and a little video.

I call this a "hybrid" (a knife made from parts of different knives).

The blade is from a United boot knife, the handle is from a SOG Desert Dagger, I made the aluminum hilt. I've had it for 20 years. It's basically like an old SOG Pentagon, but without the serrations.

Not only is it my favorite dagger, but due to it's uniqueness, and practicality, it's one of my top favorite fixed-blades. The blade is 3/16ths" thick, 4-7/8ths" long.

That's awesome, nice job!

Edit: Wow, what a cool thread. I havent enjoyed a thread this much in a while! I forgot how much I like daggers. I might have to get me a new one one of these days. 👌

Funny you should mention that one - I'm currently looking at one offered on egun.de. Just looking, mind you, so have at it...
Ha..thanks but a few years too late. I no longer live in a place where daggers are legal to possess.

Thanks! I think that Windlass did a good job with that one especially for the price! The ones posted above are mostly custom except for the one with the fluted handle that one is by Arms and Armor out of Minneapolis and is a production piece. Man I wish you hadn't started this thread. I'll be seeing Vince Evans at the Blade Show and I happen to know he's going to have a couple of things of the daggery variety and now I have this urge.... :)

Eew what place is this? 😔

Edit: nevermind. Found out Japan and I found out why they banned them. I personally feel aggravated by stupid prohibitions like that. If the mf had used a kitchen knife would kitchen knives be banned then? So silly. Apparently also you can still own this so it makes it even more silly:

Any ban on knives in Japan is silly because every household has kitchen knives. But then, any ban on knives in any country is silly when you take that into account.
Japan is a "need lawful purpose to carry" country, meaning I can carry anything from a SAK to a 10 inch Bowie or Khukri on my belt if I am Hunting,Fishing.Camping or Hiking/Trekking. But carrying the smallest knife at night in town would be cause for major trouble if caught.
In truth though, small knives are carried here by some, just that no one wears them clip out in their pocket.

That Amazon Japan dagger you linked is nothing more than a dagger with one edge unsharpened. And in the reviews one buyer complains that it took him 2 days
to grind and sharpen it...lol.

I collected knives, including many daggers when I lived in the U.S.

Ah, that's a shame (I saw the reason in the follow-up posts). Did you look at the knife offered? If so, would you consider it a good deal? I might go for it after all, perhaps.
