'Original' Bowie knives in the relatively short period in the 1800s when knife fighting/duels were most prevalent came in different sizes - some were on the large side. Think large kitchen knivesnow asides from some nice blades in this thread i am wondering about the use of these. i am not talking about the novelty items but the larger bowies you see in here... are they to be used like a machete? just showpieces? to my understanding the original bowie was sort of a fighting knife and also fairly large.
